Wall to Wall Pax wardrobe

Hi,

I would like to install a wall to wall wardrobe that will take cover the whole wall, ie from the ceiling to the floor. I would also need sliding doors for obvious reasons. Is PAX the right range for this and how easy will it be to install. Do I install the runners on the celing and floor? I have no problems with cutting the wood to the right size to fit the wall. I guess I need the internal frame as well? Can someone give me some details? I am not bad with DIY, how difficult to do you think it will be? Thanks.

Panos, london.

PAX is a modular system. There are two basic modules, 39" wide and 19" wide, in two heights, 80 and 92 inches, and two depths, 13" and 22" . All the fittings are designed for these sizes, so you could cut some down but you wouldn't be able to use the fittings (at least, not without extensive modification). There is no rail system. It attaches to the wall via an internal bracket through which a screw secures the unit to the wall.

There's an online PAX planner at the IKEA website where you can configure the external and internal pieces you need and it will generate a list of components for you.

A word of warning, these boxes are HEAVY!! It will take two people to carry them into the house and for the larger units, two people to raise them into position preferably.

Eva is right about being heavy. When I purchased my Pax units I took all the pieces out of the boxes and put them into my Pontiac Vibe one panel at a time.

The runners for the sliding doors are attached to the PAX units, not the ceiling. The doors glide smoothly and silently!
