I have been unable to function as a normal adult since June 22, 2009-the date I first entered IKEA showroom. I had some recreational use of the IKEA website for a few weeks prior. Of course my story is like others-my friend got me hooked. She said it was the cool thing to do, and that it wouldn't be too expensive- it was a "cheap" high. Low and behold I found myself at night alone on the website. Kitchen designs were forming in my head and Billy bookcase combinations were all over the place.
Then I took the next step. I traveled to IKEA West Chester with my mom and made the excuse that it would just take a few minutes, and we could go outlet shopping for most of the day.
Once we got through those elevator doors on the showroom floor I forgot who I was and who I was with! I had my list and shamelessly looked over the rooms for the two light fixtures I wanted to see how IKEA styled them. Then I got a yellow bag and started stuffing. One knife maganet here and a mobile there wouldn't hurt anything. I even reasoned in mirrors and by the end of it I had a dining room table.
It was madness, but I pulled myself together and got it all in the mini van, with some room for the kids to fit (barely).
I did what all the junkies do. I reasoned with my husband as to why I needed each and every item, how our house wasn't complete without a coat rack, and new paper towel holder.
Then for days and nights on end I searched the internet for anything I could learn about IKEA-the product names, owners, catalog release dates. I stalked products and found a way to get to another IKEA. It's not my fault we were going to be within 100 miles of another store.
So I did it. Today I went all the way and got all the chairs, slipcovers and the other necessities. I shamelessly loaded the mini van again.
And tonight while my husband supports my IKEA habit by putting the chairs together, I am here on IKEA FAN sight because it's CRACKIA IKEA to me...
I will get some pictures up tonight if I can. We've got most of the chairs in boxes still, but I'll see what we can come up with. I'll be jonesin' for them after work.
No pictures yet. We're having problems getting the slip covers to fit on the chairs so it's not going so well.
Also, looks like I'm out of the running since deadline was extended to July 25. Deadline for notice at work is July 24 am. Good luck-it will be an awesome experience for someone.
