Secret hidey hole for valuables? You could use a piece of filler on hinges and use a magnetic lock (the kind you use for child safety - TotLocks). Put some slim shelves in their and store your safe deposit box keys, extra moolah, jewelery. It's kinda cool having hidey holes! We have 3 in this house,...

Strand bamboo is supposed to be harder than horizontal and vertical, but it does scratch white, like most bamboo floors, I hear. I emailed Teragren for a solution, and they recommended the following:
