Settled in. The inevitable clutter proliferates

Wallpaper at last

I finally selected the paper sometime around the end of February. Ordering was put off until April 2, to take advantage of an extra 10% off. The paper was out of stock and had to be printed, which took a couple of weeks. Then assorted delays in May. Paperhanger took a more predictable job, so...

The Berkeleys are in.

After fussing around with the Arroyo Craftsman Berkeley fixtures, they look best with Bright White fluorescents.

The close-in photo doesn't do the art glass justice--it's magical. Although non-art glass might have been more appropriate for a work area.

Fluorescent light quality

I'm replacing these two ceiling light fixtures (Restoration Hardware, Albany, on sale for $60, shown in the photo) with similar-looking made-in-California fixtures from Arroyo Craftsman (Berkeley flushmount), whose beautiful iridescent art glass promises to produce a less deeply yellow light.

It's Official Completion Day

Finally installed the microwave. Its electrical outlet had to be moved a bit, which led to it being the Last Appliance, unless a new range is purchased sometime in the future.

Sort of odd to have a grandiose microwave hovering over an old almond-colored range with a bit of woodgrain ornament....
