The light at the end of the tunnel is blinding!

Ok, so this project has definitely dragged on longer than I had hoped. Not that I ever had any delusions of staying on a schedule, but I'm at least a month behind where I hoped I would be. But this past weekend brought several milestones and now that light at the end of the tunnel is not only visible, but it's blinding.

The major hold-up, as you may already have read in my previous posts, was the backsplash tile. I didn't want to have to work around the faucet or cooktop when doing that install so everything was put on hold while we waited for that tile to arrive. It finally came in (after a 6-week wait) and we got it put up last weekend. This weekend, I grouted the tile and with the contrasting white grout, the look is finally pulling together.

Of course, now that the tile is in, the cooktop could be installed.

And I could finally install the faucet, soap dispenser and air switch along with the disposal and the rest of the sink plumbing and dishwasher connections. We're finally rid of the "temporary" sink we've had in the dining room for the past 4 months!

Certainly, there are still lots of little details to deal with, but there are only a couple of major projects left. I'll be rearranging my garage/shop this week to set up for making and finishing of all the doors and drawer-fronts. Along with some trim still left to install around the kitchen window and some miscellaneous touch-ups, that's all that's left. I still expect that to take a few weeks, but the end is near and I can already taste it!
