midway - plumber

Posted Apr 9th, 10 at 12:10 am by gongli

i'm about halfway though. the aksvidt wall cabs are gorgeous, they're keeping me excited through all this. i found i couldn't really install my sink cab because of the copper line to the dishwasher; i have sweat joints on my valve, and my valve is leaking, and so i've called a plumber to replace the valves, deal with disconnecting and reconnecting to the dishwasher, and get the drains as ready as they can be. i still have to get the sink cab in place, then i have to cut the oak numerar. i got the large 1.5 sink boholmen with the large dishrack area, and i found that despite the fact that they say it has to go in a 36" cab, it fits in my 30" frame that was originally going to be 4 drawer. so i've swapped all the guts from the 30" and 36", so now my 36" is the 4 drawer and the 30" is the sink cab, and the big dishrack will go out over the dishwasher. i got 6" more countertop and drawer space. so many little things i've learned. i was persisting on doing the valves myself until this morning when i finally identified them as sweat, and i drew the line at soldering etc. not that i don't think it's worth learning, but just that i'm at the edge of my "cost/benefit" in terms of learning versus hiring. we've been without a kitchen for 1.5 weeks and it's inconvenient.

i had a lot of trouble learning how the blum doors fit onto the hinges, i didn't realize you push until the outer most part catches and click the inside edge in; i was trying to get the inner edge to catch and then click the outer edge in.

well after the plumber addresses that stuff, then i will be able to measure out where the sink should sit, deal with the faucet, and then move on!

im also somewhat .. uneasy about hanging the microwave from the fan cab. i thought the microwave should be bolted to the studs, but oh well.

in any case what an amazing project.
