Basic layout question - galley kitchen

Anyhow, right now we are just considering our options for the far 18' long wall. We can either put in another peninsula like we have now, or make it a true galley by keeping the cabinets against the wall, but bringing them all the way to end. Keep in mind that these are just quick sketches and don't have all the end panels, molding, etc.

The peninsula plan would build-in the fridge, add a 15" pantry, and update the kitchen while keeping the general layout the same. It would look like this:

The other option is to get rid of the peninsula, and bring the cabinets all the way down to the wall with the sliding glass door. This would open up the space, and give us LOTS of cabinets (but lose counterspace). I have moved the pantry to the other end of the cabinets to make a transition between the normal and shallow base cabinets. The cabinets in the far end of the kitchen create a kind of built-in china cabinet. They aren't really necessary but make up for some of the storage lost by not having the peninsula.

So what do you think? The sad thing is that I also have two different ideas for the other wall with the stove

How about a mix of the two designs? Extend the cabinets a little bit farther into the eat-in area and then make the peninsula overhang into that space with a couple of counter-stools for those quick bowls of cereal.

Also, I would seriously consider whether you want to have upper cabinets above your sink. If it were me, I'd be hitting my head on the cabinets every time I rinsed a dish.
