Visible Progress (with Photos)

Posted Jul 23rd, 08 at 2:18 pm by weschilders

After almost 2 weeks of hanging, mudding, sanding and priming drywall (none of which is much to look at or very interesting to watch progress), last weekend we finally began the assembly and installation of our cabinets.

So glad this phase is over

Thursday and Friday nights we primed and painted the room

Installed the flooring in about 3.5 hours Satuday

Assembly of the first cabinet

Took my time hanging the first cabinet but it was easier than I expected and we had no problems.

Installing doors on our island

The shorter 18" tall cabinet for over the fridge doesn't come in 24" depth. I was worried that the 24" tall one wouldn't leave enough clearance over the fridge hinges to allow the doors to open so I built the wall out 12" to mount the shallower cabinet. I don't think we'll miss the extra depth and we should be able to reach it's contents a little easier. Once the fridge is in place, you'll never see this framework anyway.

Done except for sliding in the fridge

Moving on to the interior fittings
