You know how there are some things you just won't let yourself buy, because for some reason they feel unnecessarily extravagant or wasteful? And how those things are typically little in the scheme of things and in no way compare to all the money we actually waste all the time?
Hand Mixer. I have a big KitchenAid stand mixer (of course!) and an immersion blender (of course!), but I have a 20 year old GE hand mixer that now only has one beater, and has been used by McGuyver to mix paint when his die grinder died.
As it's become evident that our 11-year old is officially Bundt-obsessed, I think it's time to break down and buy a decent hand mixer.
So- my friends- what are your recommendations for handmixers?
I actually like KitchenAid's hand mixer a LOT. I have one, and it's really great. The beaters are nicely configured so they don't clog up with batter and stuff.
I have been going through this same dilemma myself. I've narrowed it down to the Kitchenaid or the Cuisinart.
I don't think there are any better ones on the market than these, so it comes down to features that you would find useful. The Kitchenaid has that torquing that maintains speed and power, the Cuisinart is a more powerful motor. I am leaning towards the Kitchenaid myself.
I think that's the direction we'll go...BTW, the Red Devil Bundt cake was delicious on convection 25 degrees lower than standard baking temp- per your recommendation!
The recipe calls for 2OZ of Red Food Coloring! Holy Cats, that's a lot of dye- we only had 1 oz and it was plenty red.
