Re: Longest kitchen remodel?
I totally didn't notice that there were things not done in your breakfast room.
We're at 11 months and I am missing three sets of drawers, significant amounts of trim work, toekicks, and a big chunk of wallboard.
On the other hand, It's been really cold and I really can't blame McGuyver for not wanting to work in an unheated garage in subzero weather.
I decided a long time ago that I liked McGuyver better than I like being right.

Re: Longest kitchen remodel?
You obviously haven't heard the Murphy's Law of Home Improvement projects...
Estimate how long you think the project will take. Double that and go to the next highest unit. For example, 2 hours = 4 days. 3 weeks = 6 months. 1 month = 2 years.
I have found it to be extremely accurate!

Re: Longest kitchen remodel?
oh what a sad lot we are....this is a rather comical thread. Glad that we're not the only ones ;-) but even better that we have this community to commiserate with!

Re: Longest kitchen remodel?
Some day it will all be done...
I suppose you could say we started ours back in 2001 when we bought the house and the Swedish sink. I think we have you beat about disaster though.
Good luck!

Re: Longest kitchen remodel?
Do I get the prize for the longest ever kitchen & bath remodel?
Let's see...bath was ripped out last May and though the tub was installed, and the backer board, we have yet to pick out tiles. This means the kids are STILL using my bathroom!!
Kitchen...no base moulding yet, and still need new windows for breakfast nook area, still need backsplash (no ideas either), and probably need to repaint.
Once the kitchen was functional, the need to be done seemed to slide little by little. In my defense, we have had major health issues in the family, and mother was moving. May I be pardoned but STILL win the award?

Re: Longest kitchen remodel?
well, I have you all beat like... well...
bought the place about 3 years ago.
the first 4 months went pretty fast, with brand new electricity going in... then the procrastination started ...
walls are not painted yet, and I'm at my third try at building a large wardrobe (2 times trying to DIY entirely...)
good thing is that I recently picked up on doing stuff again. perhaps because of the summer time or something
anyhow. the wardrobe will be built out of a mix of Faktum/Abstrakt white and Pax/Lomen which seem to match pretty well
Photos coming soon in a following thread somewhere

Re: Longest kitchen remodel?
Not a kitchen remodel, but my folks still haven't finished doing the trim work in the bathroom.
For perspectives, the remodeling started when Bush Sr. was in the White House.
Guess it's a good thing there's 3 bathrooms.
