Just had to share a pic - my little angel, Rose, got to spend her 2 week birthday at IKEA shopping with mom. You can see she's really stressed out...it's hard work sleeping while shopping!!!

Way to start training her young, Kristen!! What an adorable picture. I hope you enjoyed her first outing to IKEA and I'm sure it was the first of many many more to come!
And you did NOT just have a baby and be looking that good so soon!! Don't you know you're not supposed to make us all jealous like that?! LOL

Took the words right out of my mouth! Kristen, you are AMAZING! I don't think we left the house for a solid month after our first, and I STILL don't look that good! (FTR, our eldest will be 7 in a month! )
I hope you had a wonderful first Mother's Day, and it looks as though you had a fantabulous first IKEA day - thanks for sharing your picture...you're both beautiful.
Susan

Re: Baby's first IKEA trip - the littlest IKEAFan!
Thanks, everyone. Yup, that's my mom in the reflection taking the picture. She's totally in love and hates that she lives 2 hours away and only gets to see her every few weeks.
I've determined that the carrier there, the Baby Bjorn, is a wonderful thing. Keeps curious hands away from baby, and makes me feel like she's safe. And it's remarkably comfy.
Thanks for the compliments. I've still got about 12 pounds to go, but I'm feeling really good. We try to go somewhere every other day or so. I'm not so good at being stuck in the house, and I like to get used to moving with her. If I go at the right times, I know what she'll be like...she's got a good schedule:
8am: wake up, eat, change, hang out 10am: fall asleep noon: wake up (woken up), eat, change, sleep 3:30: wake up, eat, change, play, stay awake, fuss awhile 7pm: eat, change, play 8:30pm: sleep 10:30pm: wake up (woken up), change, eat, sleep (dad always does this one while I head to bed) 3am: wake up, change, eat, sleep (by 4am, usually faster) 8am: wake and do it all again
So, anything before 3:30pm works pretty well. Today we visited my brother in the city (and Rose promptly pooped as soon as he held him...good girl!), and then we went out to lunch. She slept
I think we have a magic baby. It probably won't last, but we're taking it while we can. Plus, Matt can do the 10:30pm feeding while I sleep, allowing us each to get at least 1 good 4-5 hour stretch. The good sleep at night is definitely helping me feel better and recover quickly. If only this nagging tailbone thing would feel better - driving stinks.
Being a mom is absolutely the most wonderful thing ever. It makes me just want to make more babies

what a wonderful outing for Rose ... she'll love shopping at IKEA when she gets a little older .. You look sooo happy Kristen - and sooo great for just having a baby 2 weeks ago!

She is just perfect, Kristen. She looks so cosy snuggled up like that. You both look beautiful and so happy. Congratulations!
So did you buy anything?

I absolutely LOOOOOOOOOved my Baby Bjorn. My first baby was colicky and that is the only thing that saved my sanity. OK, some people would debate that it was saved, but that's another thread.... I got so much done and was still able to hold him and walk him which was the only thing that seemed to work. It's tricky getting the baby into one but it's so great once you do!
Re: Baby's first IKEA trip - the littlest IKEAFan!
Dylan LIVED in his Baby Bjorn- McGuyver wore the thing 24 x 7 til the kid was way too heavy for it. Life saver indeed.
Kristen, did I miss your tailbone issue? I broke mine with Dylan and it took a YEAR before I could sit down or frankly, stand back up again without tears in my eyes. Black and Blue from the waist to the top of the thighs, no lie. 30 days on percocet! I hope you mend quickly- I can truly sympathize!!
Re: Baby's first IKEA trip - the littlest IKEAFan!
We were actually shopping for my brother, who just got his MBA and is finally furnishing a nice apartment with his girlfriend with stuff bought at a store instead of from other people. He got lots of stuff - rug, coffee table, kitchen stuff, lighting. I got a new cutlery tray for my kitchen because I hated my previous solution.
I don't think my tailbone is broken (at least they didn't tell me that). I think it's just bruised. I'm okay if I'm sitting on the couch (between the cushions is the best), but driving is a killer. I've got a cushion on order that will hopefully help some, but it's not here yet. I haven't even looked to see if I'm black and blue. It's frustrating because other than that, I feel great. And, I want to exercise, but I don't know if that will aggravate it. I think either way, I'm going to try to play volleyball in a few weeks. We shall see.
