PS how much flat pack can you get in there? If I recall, that's a two seater.
You are correct.My strategy is to unpack the box in the parking lot which lets them recycle the cardboard.IKEA is new to Florida so I have only done this with a chair.Hybrids have been saving fuel and emissions for a short time but I started 18 years ago.There were Swedish tourists at the Orlando IKEA getting excited about the spice cookies but prefer the Spice Girls.
I drive a 1994 Toyota Hilux 2WD, it is old and it is rusty, but it has so far taken me 3 times across our great country, (Australia), and has obligingly carted all the IKEA goods home without complaint Toughest toyota I have ever driven...

I drive a 1987 Honda Civic WAGON, which was put out of production, sadly. With the rear seats folded down, I can get nearly any IKEA flat-pack in there. Maneuvering can be done to fold the front passenger seat flat to accommodate longer boxes (but they can't be too wide). Or, I leave the tailgate open a bit and use a bungie-cord & rope for things that might stick out.
I also get about 35 mpg and have done for 20 yrs, and it *kills* me that 20 yrs down the road (bought my car new in 87) the average car doesn't. Wha-aah?
I have 198+K miles and intend to keep driving, although I do miss the radio (which quit about 2 yrs ago - broken wire somewhere), and these modern cars w/ "air-conditioning" are interesting...
BTW I did just this morning pass smog easily, and the mechanic complimented me on how nice my engine looks.
Love my car. It carries almost anything, and still small.
