Re: sad day for me - cottage living magazine will be no more
Ummm... When I had time to read magazines a lot (during my commute) I really liked Scientific American and Fine Woodworking. Lots of great stuff in both... Susan used to get quite a few, then we started just getting them from my mom 'cause she gets a TON of magazines

You know, I have to say I'm not surprised about Cottage Living. It sure wasn't about anything cottagey the last year or two. A 5000 sq ft house decorated in loft style is just not a cottage! Absolutely everything looked exactly the same, too. I wanted to like that magazine so much, but I never could.

Oops, forgot to say that lately my favorites have been BHG's Do It Yourself and Before and After, but I'm worried about B&A, since there hasn't been a new issue available (at least around here) for longer than it should have been. I'm sure Cottage Living won't be the only casualty, alas.
which is full of all sorts of trendy looking projects. I don't care for it much for that reason (I'm the kind of person who grabs Romantic Homes rather than Dwell in the checkout line), but it's a great publication.
(Disclaimer: It's put out by my publisher, but I don't get anything--not even brownie points--for any purchases, web site clicks, etc. It's just a really excellent mag that I thought might interest some folks here.)

I just got notice that one of my favorite magazines, Home, was just discontinued. They extended my sub to Metropolitan Home instead. I will miss that magazine, it was a very nice midpoint resource for modern style.
