Discuss Valentines Day - It Begins Today on IKEAFANS.com. We're Personalizing the IKEA Experience. Valentines Day - It Begins Today - How'd you like a place to consult with your trusted forum friends about matters not entirely or necessarily related to kitchens or IKEA? Here it is! Use your discretion and remember that these forums are moderated and PUBLIC!.
Or, at least according to my mom who insists that the kids should start wearing their Valentines-themed attire today. I think we should take that one step further and say that every day in February is Valentines Day, AND since we didn't exchange gifts last year, I'm due for double.
So...I'm figuring I should probably get something for Tigger also, and I'm looking for clever creative ideas. Don't worry about giving them all away to him - after all, he won't know which (if any) idea I might choose.
Clever, creative ideas anyone?

I don't actually like sausage much... I'm a bread person! The hot dogs are pretty much for the kids, because they are so quick and easy to prepare, and well, POSTING about them because it annoys someone so effectively
I'll post a couple things for general reference as I think this could be a somewhat more broad spectrum thread:
"Ideas for creative Valentines gifts" OR "Thinking outside the Flowers and Chocolates box"
Gift Certificates to IKEA! (had to put that one in, I think I saw something in an imaginary set of fictional union rules somewhere in a dream)
Home made gift certificates: Give your spouse the most flexible of gifts. This could be coupons to spend time on their favorite hobby or whatever seems most appropriate.
A new toaster! Just kidding, someone blogged about a REALLY bad toaster gift experience... Be warned!
Spend some time thinking about and writing down all the things that you really love best about your SO and come up with a way to present it.
Related to the above, create a BLOG entry kind of like the photo poster things that people do for weddings. Then send your SO a link. OR come up with a *creative* way to present them with a link (note: this would be a good way to tie in a traditional gifting option with the creative writing options).
Anyway... There's a few to start the bal... Err... Heart? going.
Step outside the media embossed "Gifting event" mentality and know that Hallmark and a Mall is not required to come up with something that will be appreciated and long remembered.

To go along with Tigger's creative writing idea....here's a way to present it:
Write them all down on little pieces of paper and then go buy some balloons. Put the piece of paper (preferably cut in the shape of a heart) into the balloon before you blow it up. Then you present the balloons to your SO. I did this a few years ago and it went over quite well. I put all the balloons inside a chest which we have since dubbed the "us" chest and it's where we put sentimental things.
Yup, I'm a complete sap when it comes to these things - I'll admit it
That's sweet. And very *creative* sappyness, always the best kind.
Another different way might be the traditional treasure hunt where each note leads to the next with appropriately sappy comments on them. I really like the balloon idea though...

Craig got a new motorcycle last weekend I got him some stuff for his trailer so he can haul it safely... Romantic, mmm not so much but he's going to be surprised to have it from me. He's in charge of planning any outings or dinner plans since last year I surprised him with a trip to Rosario
Do you guys know about kaboodle? It's my new favorite thing as of last year! No questions about what I want for gifts
