Why did I not realize you're mid kitchen? I just read that your appliances are in your garage? I must be dense, or just needing my coffee, but i really didn't remember your kitchen not being finished
You're just lucky you don't work with me- you'd remember! The tear out is imminent! It's getting very exciting. Gotta get my photos of before into the gallery- bad moderator with no photos in the gallery!
I'll be using your under sink drawer mod- and probably need advice on creating a new one...the fake drawer look on a cabinet to hold my Ladybug steamer...and a little pull out ramp to roll it out of the cabinet on!
oooh exciting
i guess it slipped my mind because while your appliances are in your garage your sink is not! i think my milestone for remembering who is in what phase starts with the dreaded "i no longer have a sink"
you're already so busy with work and the site, are you diy-ing or hiring it out?
i can't wait to be doing another kitchen, even though while i'm installing one i hate that i got involved!
which model # on the steamer and i'll start ruminating
torrus and i have a white board for modification ideas... i'll put it there so i don't forget and he and i can brainstorm (and any other mods who want to)
We're DIY except for the removal of a load-bearing wall and installation of new windows, skylights, door to gagage, framing of 12" bumpout into garage for wall of tall, gas, plumbing and electrical. My husband is the genius behind the practical operation here. He coud actually do everything except the windows, but he's already got plenty on his plate!
He'll be laying the in-floor heat and tile, doing the demo, installing the cabinets, making all the drawer fronts out of sapele marine plywood, installing the appliances & sink/faucet, drywall, painting, building the active backsplash, installing the outlets, the rice paper/tempered glass walls...I'm tired just listing it!
We're fortunate to have a basic kitchen in our basement walkout- kind of a mother-in-law kitchen set up in the laundry room. So we will never be without a sink, and we moved the 8' run of IKEA test cabs down there. We saved the beautiful orange countertop of the Spanish Inquisition and put that over the front load washer and dryer, so we really have a lot MORE counterspace down there than we do in the actual kitchen! We have a microwave, second fridge (and a propane campstove) down there as well, so really, complaining would be obnoxious.
I'm taking a week off work, so I will be around to do demo and sand drawer fronts and build boxes...about what I am qualified for. Oh, and I can drywall basic stuff.
It will be a blast- we haven't gotten to work together in a while!
It's the ladybug 2300 XLT with TANCS. 19" w x 17" h. I thought I could put it in the cabinet on the far right of the 16' wall, or in the cabinet at the end of the penninsula- I'd like it to have a plug-in in the back of the cabinet, so that's probably easier on the 16' wall.
I've not used the planner before this week, as I had to get the Windows running on the new mac...how do I paste in images from it here?
This should be very reassuring to everyone out there- no questions regarded as dumb! I can't even paste in photos!
Kelly there's a tutorial re: posting images from the planner ...
basically you need to get a view you want - either the layout or a 3D image - and save that as a bitmap (bmp) - do this for each view you want to post.
Then open the bitmap in windows - just doubleclick it and it will open - save it as a jpeg file
the bitmaps are huge, the jpegs are much smaller - and should be small enough to post to the Galleries.
