Susan, tell me about your dishwasher - How'd you like a place to consult with your trusted forum friends about matters not entirely or necessarily related to kitchens or IKEA? Here it is! I'm in love with your dishwasher because of the feet you were able to put under it. I'm using the Capita legs, but my current (and I had planned to keep) DW has that homely toekick which hides the "stuff". That's not going to look too sharp with my legs. Or the cabinet legs, for that matter
Tell me about this dishwasher of yours. And yes, be tacky and tell me what it cost. I may put of my island on hold to get a more well-integrated DW since that is in the working run.
Tacky??? tee-hee. It's a Maytag. $499. With Capita legs. $10.
Lets see if I can find the post about how we did it, where my husband admits it was my genius idea. Back in a flash!

Let me know if you have any questions--it's not the most detailed explanation, but it gives you the basic idea. And I have the other 2 legs from the box--they're yours if you want them.
Also, one of these times on your way up to IKEA, take Rt. 17 into Tappahannock, then Rt. 3 to Fredericksburg, and you'll pass right by my house. Stop in, and I'll show you exactly how we did it.

Funny, I'll be in Lancaster County courthouse next Wednesday. We go the first Wednesday of every month...next time you come to the 'burg, you should give me a holler.
Is there some special model name that gets you the "stuff" somewhere other than a toekick? Is that what they mean by integrated?
I actually have a thin piece of plywood with Capita legs on it because I planned to do that same set up with our pantry mini fridge, but it's just a smidge too high.
Which "stuff" are you referring to? The motor and piping and all? I don't know. Ours has a little black foamy toekick that's installed after the dishwasher is in--just basically a push into place piece, plus some foamy insulating parts that go around the legs. We put all of this in front of that, painted black so it doesn't show. It's only about an inch or two back from the actual face of the dishwasher and other cabinetry. But it's in a run of cabinets that have a toekick--don't know if it would look so good next to cabs that are on legs.
Have you considered a dishdrawer? Being a household of 2, you might get away with just one, and then you'd eliminate the troublewith the legs. mongon did theirs with the Duvbo panels--I still have to get that info up on the FAQ page. Sigh...I'm so behind all the time!

I thought dishdrawers cost a million dollars but I could go check them out now that I'm not getting an island right away. I'm actually thinking my kitchen will function better without one...
So you took the metal grate tokick thing off and/or put the Capitas in in front of the tube-y things and insulation. I have since realized that my dishwasher is not installed properly as it is proud of the cabinets.
As an aside, my Big Formica Chips came today. And I demo'd off a "panel cover" in my pantry - only to discover it leads to the outdoors. Literally, I stuck my hand outside . No wonder my kitchen is Mouse Lodging during the winter. Of course, so that it didn't become a "kitty exit panel" I had to reinstall it.
I think last I checked, they were something like 1200 a pair, but I'm sure you could get a better deal than that. I think the prices are coming down now that there are a couple of different brands making them.
I guess I didn't have a metal toekick--there was the "stuff", legs and then after you got everything secured in place, there were these foam peices that you sort of stuck in place in front. My piece of plywood with legs attached is just sitting directly in front of that, under the bottom edge of the door of the dishwasher--you have to be careful of clearances, butotherwise, it was pretty easy to do.
So, how's the big chips? Sorry about your panel!!

And I found a single dish drawer for $639. It holds 7 5-piece placesettings. And since I can only cook for a maximum of 6 people, that is more than sufficient.
Now I just need to figure out how to install it.
*wanders off to find mongon's pictures/dishdrawer chat*
Check the FAQ page. I went ahead and posted mongon's instructions along with some pictures--just for you. There's an additional photo on the Interiors page. I wish I'd thought of the dishdrawer option long ago. Would have saved alot of handwashing when the kids were babies!
