Upon removing that hood from the ceiling today I discovered that it began its Decorative Half Life as copper. I'm not sure if that makes it better or worse, honestly. I think my old kitchen would have looked great with a suit or armor in the corner.

Did I mention that while doing demo I found the "older kitchen" - which had pink and light green Formica backsplash with seafoam green wallpaper on the cabinet boxes? Yowsers!
After much debate, I decided to drywall over that brick wall, but to maintain the chimney. The chimney is actually a softer solored brick that goes well with my other choices and add some textural interest.
I decided to go with the Arlig Beech. I like the lines of the Arlig, and heck, the price is right. We aren't really hard on the kitchen, truth be told. However,

doesn't think that the AB will be one of their take it home today kitchens. No worries though, I'll bring the carcasses home and then get the doors when I go back for the fluff stuff.
One side benefit to a new kitchen is finally having an excuse to ditch all those weird old condiments in the fridge.
