Image Title: Craft Room Inspiration Description: I am in the process of planning my craft room. These are a few photos that are providing me inspiration. I will be using an Expedit bookcase to store some material. While task lighting is key I found the idea of a chandelier to be interesting.
Hi there. Certainly nice pics for inspiration. I am also thinking of using the Expedit to make my work/hobby space.
Is that first picture IKEA? I love the worktop/bar unit in the foreground. Could you tell me what it is please?
Have had my own craft/sewing/studio room for over 20 years and I advise against open storage...over time it does bad things to your beautiful fabrics (dust, fading) I now store my hand-dyed and otherwise handmade fabrics behind closed doors. Avsikt glass door cabinets and glass shelves are wonderful for that. You might also think Billy with glass doors. And do not forget an island of wonderful drawers that you can also use as your cutting table or to lay out your projects; look in the kitchen department for those, Varde maybe? Over the years I picked up many items for my studio at Ikea: the 18 drawers cabinet comes to mind, Ivar shelving with doors and drawers, magazine storage, files boxes.
2 Peas in a Bucket have a ton of inspirational pictures for craft rooms. The site is dedicated to scrapbooking, but the members like to deal with the orgaization of their rooms.
The link I'm posting should be a simple search of "craft room" in the gallery.
I have three EXPEDIT pieces in my studio. LOVE them for useful, beautiful and accessible storage but I agree that it is not the best for fabrics, etc. if the room gets direct sunlight. Mine does not get much direct sun and I find that being able to see my supplies and stash is very inspiring, so I consider the occasional up-keep dusting a worthy trade.
I also wanted to add that I've noticed that the Avskit door glass seems to have a magnification effect when it comes to sun, the effect being that it fades things FASTER than with normal exposure.
