My countertop is Silestone Ebony Pearl (black/gray/charcoal) but I had a tough time coming up with a nice enough tile for the flooring because of it. Some grays looked too darn blue, while others had a washed out look. This is a strange colour tile I ended up with, but we like it a lot. Has a matte finish, and almost looks like leather. At times it has a tannish-gray look to it, while other times it comes across very dark gray. Other times it has almost a slate look.

Anywhoo...I got excited about my Gel mat and decided on black! Now I'm not too sure if I like the look. My appliances are black and ss (black DW), black/ss range, and ss/black refrigerator.

Walls have to be repainted, and no backsplash yet. What do you think? Should I go with a different colour mat? So hard to know when you look at a 2x2 sample. Will post more pics when DH takes some for me. He was grumpy tonight,lol

I think the black looks awesome. I don't know how you get another colour to match or look better. The black looks really good.

So what is the backsplash going to be?

I like the black! The only other color I think might work would be a gray.

I feel much better! Don't think they have gray.

Zeuss, I have NO idea what I am doing for the backsplash. That's going to be a spring project.

All I know is that I want glass tiles but not the tiny ones. That would be too busy for me. Have been checking sites with backsplashes though. I don't like the fancy work above the range either. I want a clean, modern look but still with some WOW to it.

Any ideas? Flooring tile is Emser's Capriccio in Anthracite 18x18. Definitely don't want to repeat it on the b/splash.
