We are in the process of trying to figure out where to end or place are mosiac glass tile backsplash. I have attached a picture to show the areas in question (see question marks). The area that I know that we will tile is shown by the diagonal black lines (photoshoped), but we were not sure if we should continue on to the areas adjacent to the pantry (see question marks). My guess is that we should to make the glass tile really standout? What is normally done is this scenario?
Hmmm, thanks for the input. I was thinking yes just because the old laminate counter backsplash used to be in those locations (hence the white drywall). I never thought about not doing any there.
It would make my life a bit easier, less to install - just sand and paint
I ended up tiling more of my backsplash as I am such a crummy drywall worker. The tile looks much better than my attempt at getting the old parts of the wall smooth with only joint compound and some sanding.
As a matter of pure aesthetics, I agree with the other posters...
Instead of quarter round what about a nice clean bead of caulk? Since we want minimal lines etc ... I think the quarter rund would take away from that.
Also, instead of doing a full height backsplash in those areas, how would a 3", 6" or 12" height "side-splash" of the glass tile look in those question areas? I guess I could always tape them up to see how they would look.
The problem is since they did not put granite backsplash in those areas there is a small inconsistent gap of 1/8" or so since the wall was not exactly sqaure. BY putting tile there it would cover that up nicely.

I decided just today to tile my backsplash with the floor tile and use the glass tile as a "relief", in other words, the glass tiles are 1" sq. I'm taking a 4x4 section of them and gluing it in the center of the 12 inch sq main tile, where ever I see fit. My main tile is a kackie, as are my walls, (painted), my cabs are white abstrackt, oak counter tops, and the glass tile is turquoise.
Will send photos when it's done.
