Love the white countertop material, the white with the black flecks is ok, and I really, really don't like the brown one. But then again, my personal taste is pretty subdued and monochromatic.

What type of toekick did you decide on? Backsplash?

Well, for the toekick we are going standard plinth rail in the nexus bb to match the rest of the lower cabinets.

Backsplash.... originally we were planning on going up with the same material as the countertop. Our kitchen people said they don't have a thin version of the countertop. So if we did match, the backsplash becomes also 3cm (1-1/4") thick, not good. We were thinking of maybe a white/off white/bone type brick look mosaique tile.

There's a great place here in the toronto area that has cheap tiles for this kind of stuff.

Any thoughts?

I really, really like how your kitchen is shaping up. You must be so proud.

I have to say that I agree with you. While in most instances the white granite would be the preference, I'm not particularly fond of it in your kitchen. I think I kinda get the feel you're talking about. I'm not feeling it in your kitchen either. However, while I like the brown granite better than the white one, is there a possibility of getting a differnt sample of some type of white - possibly not as busy as the white you currently have? That might be a possibility. I think as your kitchen continues to go up, your getting different samples might be a great thing.

While I understnad what you're trying to achieve with the stainless doors underneath the sink, I'm thinking the BB might look better. Aslo, the stainless doors are hard to keep clean, specially right below the sink.

Here are a couple more pics. Cabinets are almost completely done. Just missing 1 end panel (one end of island), have the do the crown and valence moldings, and install cabinet handles.

We chose the countertop and did decide to go with the white granite with black speckle. A bit of a gamble, but we'll see. You can see the sample on the island.
