Hi guys. We are possibly having Abstrakt white as our base cabinets and I was just wondering whether we could combine it with something contrasting for the uppers? Initially, we took the obvious direction of combining it with another Abstrakt colour but I think this is a lot of gloss now I've had time to reassess.

What do you all think? What about gloss mixed with a wood cabinet like ulriksal or a shaker style? I like the idea of the more natural surface of wood to stop it from becoming too 'glitzy'!

We are having wood countertops as well so I think we need to match the wall cabinets to that in terms of shades of wood. It'll either be an oak countertop or dark african walnut.

I've mixed it with Avsikt glass, Avsikt roll fronts, Grundtal rails, and mossby shelves.

Hello again! From the black to the white abstrakt now!

That sounds nice and modern - all the white with stainless and aluminium. What sort of colours are you going for on the walls and floor. Are you staying bright and industrial or warming it up?

I stayed with the bright colors to continue the look of the rest of the house. My kitchen is currently lime green and cobalt. I'm not at home now so I can't post any pictures, but you can see them in my progress blog. I'm having trouble picturing the Abstrakt white with one of the wood doorstyles. I can picture the Arlig white with something like Nexus Birch or Nexus Black. I think when you have contrasting colors it's nice to keep the texture similar.

There'd be a huge contrast between abstrakt and a door like adel or ulriksdal. Besides the gloss vs. wood, you'd also be combining a slab door with something with more texture. I'm not saying not to do it, but you'd have to really think it through.

I'm still thinking that with your inspiration photo from the other thread that Arlig white would look really nice with Nexus Black/Brown.

Hallarum goes very well with Abstrakt White. Classic, mid-century appeal.

I'm thinking about doing Abstrakt with a wood as well. I saw an advertisement from Varenna Poliform for something similar. One wall of vertical cabinets is glossy white, the other has horizontal drawercabinets in wood. It's an exciting look.

This is an old post, but I'm mixing my Abstrakt White with painted Abstrakt Periwinkle (automotive paint) on the bottoms. I'm combing the white and glass doors on top and the Peri's on the bottom. Dark grey stained concrete and either a solid stainless or colored glass wall.

It's gonna be different.

I've been blogged!
On my floating bookcases in the bedroom I used Abstrakt white with Nexus black/brown cover panels. Of course, I'm still waiting to finish the last bedroom because of the stop placed on the Nexus b/b. : (
