Hello all, I am new to the board & this may have been answered somewhere but I haven't been able to find it. Hoping someone can help:
I am in the early stages of a kitchen remodel & ideally I'd like to do Nexus Brown Black base cabinets with Abstrakt White top cabinets.
My concern: are the textures just too different? Abstrakt White is so glossy? Brown Black is more of a flat color, no shine. Has anyone tried this color combo?
Or would it be better to mix the Brown Black with Applad White? My head is spinning
They are both modern with a slab door, and I think they would look great together. I can't point to specific examples of this combination, but I think someone on here has done this. A white countertop (like a quartz or corian) would look fanstastic with this combo.
thanks, i'm actually hoping to do blizzard white corian countertops or maybe something similar in caesarstone. i started to panic/question mixing the two styles though.
Mixing cabinet styles is very "in" right now. I think it will look very chic. If you are close to an Ikea and you don't like how the Abstrakt looks, you can always exchange them for BB or something else, like glass. Or you could order one of each to compare before you buy the whole order. That is the great part about Ikea cabinets....
I was originally planning a NBB with Abstrakt White kitchen, so I'm biased. I ended up going all Abstrakt White -- compromise with the husband -- but I love the look. I especially like the reflective quality of the AW against the matte quality of the NBB. If you want to see some pictures of members' kitchens with similar coloring, search Gail0202 (although it's possible she had glass or no uppers), or look at the threads that are listed below the comments on this thread -- I noticed when reading your posting that there were some links to the very same color combo. Also, someone recently did Nexus Yellow Brown with Abstrakt White -- it may be linked below, and it's definitely searchable.
I like the AW with the NBB over the Applad White because I think the AW is glossier and more reflective -- and I like the contrast. I don't know if anyone's done Applad White with NBB, but I'm sure it would look lovely too. It depends on what contrasts you're looking for.
We used Caesarstone Eggshell for our countertop -- you can see it in my
galleries
. I adore quartz, and I think Caesarstone's whites add a nice quality to the color combination you're contemplating. I think Gail0202 used Desert Limestone, which is a little browner than Eggshell, and it looked amazing with NBB.
that's kind of what happened to us, too! there was a sales stop on NBB during our entire renovation, and then my husband just up and went for all AW, even though he had said he didn't want an all-white kitchen. hmmm. it's a husband-AW conspiracy...
