Beadboard wainscoting in a Stat kitchen -- too much of a good thing?

We're doing a Stat white kitchen, L-shaped with an island. I'm considering painted white beadboard wainscoting on the walls. This would be on one long wall that doesn't have any cabinetry on it (parallel to the island) and on another wall that does have cabinetry on it, but the beadboard would not be directly adjacent to the cabinets (the refrigerator is at the end of the cabinet run, so the beadboard would be behind the refrigerator and to the side of the refrigerator).
I really love the look of beadboard wainscot, but wonder how it would look with the Stat doors. Since they have a raised beadboard-esque center, would that be too many vertical lines in the room? And would the "true" beadboard near (though not touching) the doors' faux beadboard make the faux look a little, uh, too faux?
Hmmm...I have often thought of doing beadboard in the breakfast room, but have shied away for the very same reason. I don't think I have a definitive answer, just a nagging suspicion that it wouldn't look right. Interested to see what others think...

I also toyed with the idea of beadboard in my kitchen. Once I got my cabinets installed (Stat yellow) I bought a 4x4 sheet of the faux beadboard for $7.00& leaned it against the wall. All the vertical lines just seemed to compete with each other and it seemed to busy for my liking.
Maybe it would end up being gorgeous once it wasall done with real beadboard ~ but the test sheetscared me away fromit.
Thanks, guys. It's good to get some independent opinions. Hubby's not exactly objective ("WHAT?!? Put beadboard over the walls we just spent all that time patching? Are you crazy?").
Like the others, I considered the same thing for my adjacent dining area. I have Stat yellow and the dining area had wallpaper I needed to remove. I love the beadboard and thought it would save me stripping half the wall too! But I was concerned about there being too much so I put the beadboard on my bathroom walls!

Laura - I'd love to see pics of your Stat yellow...I'm getting my album ready to post soon!
I like the beadboard with the stat kitchen a lot. But I agree with some others that it might compete too much if placed directly against the doors themselves. On adjacent walls and opposing, it should be fine. I'm not a great decorator, but I think it would look nice.
****...I just saw a kitchen in a magazine this week that had beadboard walls and beadboard-style cabinets and I meant to scan it for you so you could see the effect. For me, it would be too much but I thought the visual might help you figure out what you like. I'll try to remember to find it tonight and scan it for you.
That kitchen is lovely... I don't think there's too much beadboard ... I love the look .. just wouldn't work in my house (a log house).
