??PLEASE??(Forgive my original lapse in manners)
Hi everyone,
Well we finally went ahead and ordered the 50% off Askerum doors, and I only had to order 3 cabs worth from IKEA direct - the canton MA store was able to get all the other doors I needed.
The IKEA direct doors/drawer fronts arrived yesterday!!! I love 'em. So excited (but still doing demo in new kitchen space...)
Now I'm reading about ASKERUM being "notoriously hard to match" with paint colors and such. I'm just curious if anyone else out there has pics they could post (I've been to the Before/After and Finished pages - ALOT! Very beautiful stuff...)
Also, my DH and I have been picking up assorted base cabs in the AS-IS department (some for, like, $4!), and am wondering: it is possible to buy all the door/drawer hardware separately, correct? Like, the actual drawers and such, hinges, etc!?
I'm in progress with an Askerum kitchen, so I don't have anything finished to show, and you may have seen my progress pictures already, but here's a link anyway:
If you look through the album, you'll see some color swatches on the wall. We are waiting to get the backsplash tile in before making a decision on wall color. That will hopefully happen sometime this month.
Another Askerum (I think) picture I found online is at http://www.mosaicartsupplies.com. Click on Gallery, Finished Kitchens, Philedelphia Kitchen. Only two small pictures, but something to see anyway.
Hi jenb,
Thanks SO much for posting these! (Didn't see them in the progress blog...)
I love your backsplash tile! And your countertops - what are they? I'm hoping to do soapstone; is that what you're using?
And I'm digging all your color choices. I have a greenish-putty sort of color in mind for my kitchen (from my This Old House inspiration photo...) You have one sort of putty choice among your swatches, which looks great, as do the greens to the right of the fridge, and that greenish blue/bluish green under the microwave wall (in the photo with the temporary countertop). That's a good idea to wait till the backsplash is in.
I also love that little one peering over the range wall - how old? I have 4 and a 9 year old girls putting up with the chaos over here in our kitchen.
The Philadelphia kitchen was inspiring, too.
Thanks again! Your kitchen's looking so lovely, light and airy. Good luck to you too (and I'll keep on the lookout for your progress reports).
Thanks for the compliments :-) The countertop is actually Formica Basalt Slate. Soapstone was my preference, but in the end we just ran out of money. I am really happy though with the dark matte look that the formica has.
I'm remembering another Askerum kitchen now with putty walls that looked nice in the photos. Oh, it is the Askerum/Tidaholm on the Before/After page.
I'm sort of half dreading having the backsplash tile in because I'm afraid that whatever colors look good with it won't go with the cabinets.
That was my 4 year old son peeking over the wall in my photo. I also have a 6 year old son. Kids certainly add another dimension to renovating!
