We have one nice sized window in our galley kitchen above the sink. When we moved into the house, there was a very ugly valance covering the window.

I took it down, now i cannot think of something to do with the window. I want it to be modern and not too "country" looking (i.e. frilly curtains).

Can any of you give me some ideas of what to do with the window? any unique ideas?

Thank you for your imput... I have been browsing all the before and after galleries and any place online for ideas but i have not found something i like

Hi! How about cafe style curtains (covering lower half of window), or the neat transluscent contact paper styles available that will give you some privacy without reducing the light coming through the window? There are also upward rolling shades - the ones that roll from bottom to top. Cyndi

A midtone bamboo Roman shade would be a nice update to that window. Like the one I have in my kitchen:

Eva stole my idea Just installed five of these throughout my living room and dining room. I absolutely adore the texture that a natural roman shade gives to a room.
