We're doing Stat white cabinets, 39" high, and we're adding a simple crown molding at the top (painted to match the cabinets), so the cabinets go all the way to the ceiling. The walls are green and the non-cabinet trim will be white. I want the trim to be a bright, crisp white, and I'm wondering if it would look better if it's the same white as the cabinets and crown molding, or a different shade. This is for the baseboards, three doors, and a huge window with muntins (is that the right word? those grille things) that's only a couple of inches away from the cabinets on either side.

So, what do you guys think would look better? Trim that's the exact same white as the cabinets, or slightly different (probably a little brighter)?

I'd go with exact match. If the shade is slightly off, the darker one will look dirty.

I'll second Eva. We had previously painted white woodwork in the room with our STAT white cabinets and they never quite look clean. When I get around to it, I'll repaint all the woodwork with Simply White to match the STAT cabinets.

How's your work coming along? Still afflicted with DIY Disease? You don't have a progress blog that I've overlooked, do you?

Thanks, guys. I'll add repainting the window to the punch list, since it's lighter than the Stat cabinets -- I certainly don't want to put up brand-new cabinets only to have them look dirty!

Susan, no progress blog yet -- I figure I'd need actual progress in order to blog about it. Every time we get a bit of forward momentum, life intervenes to derail us. Things are just settling down around here [*knock on wood*], so hopefully we can do a big push and finally get somewhere with this darn kitchen.
