carlota, this is a really old thread, don't know if sepia is still around. but there is a picture above which proves the point
many have done this or similar configurations, if you keep your eye on the measurements you'll be fine
So, I am installing the exact double domsjo sink in the exact same corner configuration. I saw the pictures....however I cant tell if the counter top on the corner cabinet had to be notched so the sink can slip into that notch......because thats the only way i could see this working, but in the picture it doesnt seemed to be notched. Please help.
By looking at the pictures the set up looks exactly the same....we have the 49 inch cornercabinet with its cover panel, then the sink cab is right up against that cover panel......the counter top on the corner cabinet comes up flush with the inside of the
akurum
sink cabinet, just like the other side (and how its supposed to) however i have notched out the non corner cabinet side like it says. It seems as if
im
going to have to cut out a circular shape to hug the front apron part on the corner cabinets counter top?
any feed back is good.....have already spent 3 hours of non stop searching on this site....
thanks
Akurum definition
Akurum is the North American equivalent of FAKTUM; that is the fitted, frameless, component kitchen cabinet line, which when paired with door and drawer fronts as well as interior accessories makes up the full kitchen cabinet system.
Ok, here's proof that the Domsjo will fit in a corner with the 48" corner cabinet. Thanks for everybody's help!
sepiatone,
I know that it's been a while but is this picture in this post your kitchen?
I am doing the exact same thing that you did. The one thing that concerns me is cutting the counter top that sit's over the corner cabinet. Did you use the same measurements for notching a regular cabinet that would sit next to the sink or did you have to cure the front of the notch to be flush with the front curve of the sink edge?
I am also using lumber liquidators counters that are only 25" deep. I am afraid of mis-cutting a $600 piece of cherry wood.

It looks like you pushed your sink base cabinet directly next to your lazy susan. I am struggling with a dishwasher on the left of my Domsjo sing, and a lazy susan like yours on the right. Coworkers at Ikea said I needed 3 inches of space between my LS and my sink base. This leads to a very unsupported sink base, as neither side would be connected to another cabinet. Suggestions?

bhelvis,
hello,
i have that exact same set up, dishwasher on left of the domsjo sink, corner base lazy susan cabinet on the right. i got it to work just fine. except the fact i had to cut out a curvy 3-4 inch long slice out of the counter top that was over the corner cabinet. which wasnt a big deal because i got some cheap laminate ikea counter tops. (temporary until i poor my own concrete ones, which will be hard to do with that piece needing to be cut out.) anyways, i will take a picture and post it up so you can see. the curvy slice i had to cut out allowed the front 'apron' of the sink on the right side to fit. you cant see the cut i had to do, except for a tiny bit in front, and it just looks like it was meant to be cut to wrap around the sink. i also did this with a cheap jigsaw, and the cut really wasnt all that good. also, it took me several times lifting and lowering that sink in and out and re-cutting to get it to fit. (because i would only cut of a tiny bit at a time). also, i broke one sink because i dropped it.....they are extremely heavy, i just had my wife helping me....and shes smaller than me....but i was kinda mad cause ikea didnt tell me about this problem when they saw my plans, so i just took the sink back and exchanged it for an unbroke one......
ill try to get a couple pics up with in an hour or so.
for now, here is one photo i posted on here a while back, you can see it in the picture, but in the corner of the kitchen with the 2 windows, thats where the sink is....
ok i attached 2 photos. first time doing so, hopefully it works.
i drew on one picture what the cut looks like.
the other one has a more overall view.
i also put comments in the photos.
A couple things i forgot to mention before is that:
I chose to and i would suggest everyone do the same, is that you should put cover panels on the sides of whatever cabinets are to the right and left of the dishwasher, it trims out the dishwasher and makes it look way better, i have noticed some people chose not to do this.
Now with that said, i forgot, or rather chose not to put a cover panel on the side of the sink base cabinet that went up against the corner base cabinet. it looks fine with out it, but if you put a cover panel on the side of that sink cabinet that goes up against the corner base, it may actually prevent you from having to cut the counter top, or if you still have to, you would have to cut much less out. I think the deepest part of the cut i had to make was 3/4 of an inch, however, a cover panel is 1/2 an inch. so i think if you put the cover panel on the sink base side that is against the corner base, you would only have about 1/4 to cut in the deepest part.
none of this may apply to you due to the differences in counter tops though, like your edge doesnt stick out as much, or you have granite counter tops you dont/cant cut......however
im
sure an installer of counter tops would be able to cut it.
sorry if nothing i say or show makes since, haha, i am kinda busy right now, but really wanted to help you out, since i had experience with the issue...
