| Review of Dupont Simplicity countertop
Our countertops were installed today and I thought some might be interested in our experience with Simplicity, the cheaper line of Corian.
It looks okay. I got the Charcoal Tweed color and it's lighter and bluer than I imagined, neither of which works to the advantage of my decorating scheme, but that's not the material's fault. We have Adel MB cabinets and they seem to go together okay.
I'm a little annoyed that the seam is evident; it doesn't shout from across the room, but I think a big selling point of Corian is invisible seams, and I'm pretty sure the guy who took my order at Home Depot made that claim. The installer said Simplicity is made of more plastic and less acrylic, and that makes it impossible for seams to be completely hidden. I think he was making that up.
The total price was right about $2400 for 229 inches' worth of base cabinets (an L and an island). Fabrication took a week and a half. I'm pretty sure Simplicity can only be had via Home Depot.
That's all the details I can think of!
