Smile Torn on Door Style - Help! :)

So I originally came into this whole kitchen thing...Wanting Adel Birch....Then I thought Adel White....

Then....Adel Birch....
Then Adel Medium Brown might not be so bad....

Then....Liljestad...LOVE the Liljestad....
Then I asked for design help, and Eva introduced me to Tidaholm Oak which looks kind of nice...

Then....I was thinking....Well...Maybe Adel Medium Brown again....lol

Nonetheless....I want a warm feel to my house - not sure how to explain it, but just overall Wow, when someone sees my kitchen.

We have a Smooth Black French Door refrigerator, with Stainless Steel Bosch Smooth front Dishwasher - Cooktop and Ovens have yet to be purchased...

Here is a link to some pictures of my house....
The Nest Forums

It is No where near finished, but you might be able to get the idea of what kind of colors/style we're going for. I'm not entirely sure what style we're going for, so if you can figure that out - I'll be forever grateful ha ha ha...

Nonetheless, I would like a door that is more solid wood than veneer, or melamine...

I like a darker color, but would be open to a lighter color like Adel Birch, or Nexus Birch...

Let me know what you think!!!

Hi ... you seem to be in that quandry where many of us end up... waffling over the door style... have you searched in the galleries here for photos of kitchens with the door styles you're considering (or even looked in the progress blogs?). You can change the whole look of the kichen by the countertop and backsplash decisions you make... I went to IKEA and brought a few doors home with me ... so I could see what they looked like in my space ... I had been considering Adel birch, Kalsebo, bakebo and tidaholm - once I saw the coloring of the doors with the logs in my house I knew that Adel birch was the doors for me (and the at the last moment came very close to ordering Askome Ash ... they'd just installed a gorgeous display of that at my IKEA).

I haven't looked at your photos yet ... I'm similar - I have no idea what my style is ... sometimes I jokingly call it "heritage" - I just use things that I like ... it's my home and it works for me!

not to light a fire, but Adel MB will be discontinued soon... will you kick yourself if you don't get it? There are a few people who are feeling that way about Nexus BB (though that was without warning).

I can totally relate.

I bounced between Adel White & Tidaholm, then took a trip to Ikea with DH to pick up a couple of sample doors from As-Is... and somehow walked out with Lidingo and Adel Birch! After living with both doors perched on our fridge for a month, we're 98% sure it will be Adel Birch. Go figure!

The moral of my story is that IMO, its worth the trip to see them in person, and even more worth it to pick up a couple of $2 doors from As-Is and look at them at home for a bit. It sure made my decision clearer!

Good luck & happy waffling!

Tough choices. I think white would be nice and open feeling. The birch seems like a close match to the existing oak, in terms of color. I picked Adel MB over white and I really like it.

Is Adel MB really going away? I was going to wait to buy more cabinets but now I might now have a choice! Is this information posted on Ikea's website?

First of all - I'm a nestie too (Stacylu there as well) You're in Seattle, right? Your name looks familiar.

We have Adel MB and I adore it. We never considered anything else though. And yes, it is slated to be discontinued after next year.

I'm wondering if they might hold off the discontinuation with the untimely demise of Hallurum and BB. A girl can always dream

See that's my problem....I don't know if I'd kick myself if I didn't get the Adel MB....LOL!

I have been to the Ikea, and have seen every door in person pretty much....At first sight I wasn't crazy at all about any Oak, and inital thought of Adel MB was Ehhh....

But....The more I looked, and then they did their little switcheroo presto change-o brand new kitchens, and they had this huge display of the Adel MB...I thought Hmm...Not so bad....

But then that's when I saw the Liljestad and said to myself....I have to have it!

Then after looking at all this pics here from the catalog and others' kitchens...I started wondering if Liljestad is too dark for my 11'x13' kitchen....Or if it'd be too dark for resale (we're not staying in this house forever...)

Then I started thinking about the Birch again, but it is so so light....

Stacylu - I am a Nestie, I sit on the YH board ALL the time....I saw your pics of your kitchen in your bio...However, for whatever reason at this moment I cannot pin point what your name is on there...lol...I am "kermie" aka...MrsToad

I'm Stacylu on the Nest as well.

Can you get a door in each of the styles you're interested in (In the As-Is area) and live with each of them for a week to see what you lean towards? Also check out the Flickr group for some examples of different styles.
