Welshpool Black (Cambria) or Galaxy Black (Zodiaq)?

Ok, the counter guy was here & I'm stuck between the above mentioned two surfaces on Adel MB cabinets (ATL IKEA has some MB cabs with black granite & it is wow!) and I have a copper slate floor (see photos in my progress blog).

The price is nominally different & the Cambria "fabricates better" according to these guys (they hate DuPont) -- so I'm looking for someone to "break the tie" as it were.

I like the "close grain" and "flat" look of the Galaxy Black (zodiaq), but the Cambria "Welshpool black" has brown flecks in it that pick up the colors of the cabinets & floor (as my mother points out. "It is pre-dirt-speckled" which, in our house, is a good thing).

Any thoughts?? I just got back from a weekend V-day trip to IKEA ATL (I forgot to order a bunch of stuff) and I'll post more on my blog soon!

I have a very similar Cambria color (flint black - not as many brown flecks in it) on Adel white and it looks incredible. I think it looks more natural with those flecks in it.

From what I remember, my installers said Cambria wasn't too hard to work with. I suspect DuPont, Cambria, Silestone, etc. have different quartz/polymer ratios, making some easier to work than others

Did they leave you samples?

I was tied between colors etc. so got samples to live with for a couple of weeks. The paper samples just don't do them justice. We went with Zodiaq's Galaxy black and love it with the light birch cabinets. If you wanted a warmer feel they have Space Black ("Black base highlighted by large yellow ochre and translucent particles with a hint of reflective shimmer." per site). The yellow looked more gold to me. I also like that my installers told me I could use windex to clean them like they do instead of the special stuff that was sent as a sample.

If the counter people won't

leave the samples with you (mine did for almost 2 weeks) you can order a sample from Zodiaq here http://www.zodiaqsamples.com/prostor...et/StoreFronta 4x4 " sample is just over $4.00. Not sure if Cambria has samples. It just really helped me to be able to see the samples with my cabinets, wall and floor colors for a few days. It is worth asking them if they have something they could leave, even it it is only a scrap piece of what you think you might want.
