Redoing a bathroom on the cheap.

Figured what could be done about one of the bathrooms here (original and covered in about 10 layers of paint - ugh) ... except I could use some suggestions on the faucet choice.

Existing flooring is a white/gray marble effect ceramic tile ... that'll stay. Not only is it still in good shape, but the color scheme works out.

Already acquired and to be used ...
- 2x4's to build out the base cabinet framework, as there are walls on 3 sides, with a space measuring 63" wide. No budget for a cabinet, not to mention the odd plumbing layout means I'd have to gut at least half of a side, structurally affecting them.
- 15" Askerum 3-drawer sets, top drawer cut down to 3" to allow a lower height. Remaining pair of drawer fronts to be mounted together and used as a door.
- 15" tall doors of the same for the upper wall cabinet (pair of 30x15), with Nian undercabinet lighting minus the frosted glass so the light is actually usable.
- Gilla pulls.
- White marbled Numerar countertop.
- A pair of Italian sinks that is the exactly the same size and style as a Kohler Linia ... only without the Kohler price.
KOHLER: K-2217: Linia™ self-rimming lavatory: Sinks: Bathroom

This is all going done on a $250 budget. Seriously. The doors and countertop were clearance/AS-IS, the pulls actually have some substance/design and are only $3/pair, and the sinks were new-in-box pieces bought from the Salvation Army.

Basically, this means I have $120 left over for the faucets - not much, I know, but there's the challenge.

Only aspects would be that I like the simplicity of a single hole design, something with a longer reach is more preferable (no busting knuckles against the back), and I'm not against the use of kitchen faucets as long as it doesn't look "out of place".

Sooo .. any suggestions?

TIA!

Re: Redoing a bathroom on the cheap.

there are some really nice faucets at great prices to be had on ebay. Some of them even have the option to name your best price ... and the seller will consider it ... I got the faucets for both my bathrooms and my clawfoot tub on ebay. Have you taken a look there yet ? There are quite a few plumbing suppliers selling on ebay. What style are you looking for ?

Re: Redoing a bathroom on the cheap.

I really like the Enskar faucet from Ikea:

It's $79, but maybe you could happen upon one in as is. When the drain piece is included, I think the price is actually great.

Apelskar, at $69, is also pretty handsome but more basic:

My new bathroom cabinet was all made of as-is room kitchen cabinets; I had to buy only one retail priced drawer for under the sink because I wanted to maximize drawers. It's so fun to have more organized space!

I like the sink with the marble Numerar look. I also love the Askerum door style. So this should be a nice improvement for under $400!

Re: Redoing a bathroom on the cheap.

Thanks for the ideas! ... the Enskar's snout would definitely work out, but $79 price (plus tax) does make it out of my price range. I'm presently still "minimally employed", hence allowing me extra time (labor) to even do this, but not much extra money.

The Price Pfister Parisa series looks like it might be the winner, provided the 4-7/16" snout-to-center measurement is sufficient. Going price is under $40/each shipped ... that's very workable.

Re: Redoing a bathroom on the cheap.

Might check out local big box stores for faucets. We found our nice quality Kohler sinks and Price Pfister faucets all marked down 75%+. Faucets were under $25 each and much nicer than any of the low end builder grade faucets usually available for that price.

Re: Redoing a bathroom on the cheap.

I have found faucets at Costco, Walmart and Tuesday Morning, believe it or not! Sometimes the odd-lot stores have them too.
