Jarpen Shelf issue--PLEASE HELP!!!!

I thought I had planned everything out but obviously I didnt plan enough!

Im trying to hang these Jarpen shelves on this long wall in my bedroom.

However, one end of the shelf (bracket) is about an inch short of the next stud

over.

THe left side is "bolted" into the stud, but the right will have to be

anchored to the drywall alone.

Is it ok too have one side "stud anchored" and the other "wall anchored". I will

have books, LOTS OF THEM!

PLEASE HELP!!!

Well...with lots of books, I don't think you'll be OK with only one anchor and one stud. The Jarpen shelves are particleboard, too, and won't carry that much weight.

Studs are usually 16" apart, so you should be able to catch at least two. What brackets are you using?

if you decide to anchor make sure you use a heavy duty toggle bolt anchor.

Re: Jarpen Shelf issue--PLEASE HELP!!!!

Hey thanks for the replies!! I opted to hang the shelves on a shorter walls where I could attach to two studs.

To answer the first reply, im using the bjarnum brackets. The particle board is actually quite heavy. And to my horror, when i attached the shelf to the short wall, the shelf fell under the weight of just a few books and a healthy amount of magazines. Now I have (4) 1/4" holes in my wall!!! I used the FIXA screws that are supposed to go with the Jarpen shelf. I guess I was wrong. So back to the drawing board I go...

Maybe I should try those heavy duty toggle bolt anchors. Ikea sells those too?

Thanks

Stephen

Re: Jarpen Shelf issue--PLEASE HELP!!!!

Go to your local hardware store and tell them what you want to hang. They'll give you the proper stuff. You'll have to go anyway to get patch for the drywall, right?

Unfortunately, when it comes to things like this IKEA is not your best source. They make great shelves, and great brackets, but the attaching to the wall stuff, not so great.
