It's been a while but my kitchen is still...icky. I've gotten design assistance before and I know how good y'all are and I've incorporated many of the great suggestions I've gotten here...
There's not a lot that can be done with my little room, though. I want to retain a small eating area without congesting the doorways to the garage and dining room (dining room across from window wall, adjacent door is garage, door at other end goes to entry hall (this one is a pocket door; other doors are standard)).
My Ikea planner skills are weak, so do use your imagination. Pretend I have all the trim filled in, including a cabinet over the fridge. Cabinets will be evenly spaced around the window. And I'll probably rearrange doors for appearances.
But for the general layout, does having a skinny counter on the stove wall by the table make sense? (This is my main "improvement".) I could go solid pantry all the way up but I like a more open look, plus I can put the microwave, coffee pot, toaster, etc. in that area--it won't be a real
working area. And having short cabinets above it might look too choppy--going with full-length ones might be better. I'd probably do some sort of trim work to connect the two heights in a retro style if I keep the heights different. I do think the extra high gap is nice for coffee pot steam, blenders, and other small appliances though.
The fridge is tight. I think I can recess it into the wall about 4 inches which will help with the depth (the one I intend to purchase is about the size as the one I used as a stand in). I'm planning on a 30" left-hinged top-freezer model, but if I can't work out the depth I'll carve out 6" from the stove-side cabinets and get a 36" counter depth.
Range is 30", hood 36", dishwasher 24" and paneled (currently paneled with the cheapest Ikea doors available

), and sink...well, hoping to fit in a 36" cabinet. And not the sink I have in the planner.
I don't have a door style picked out yet--I'm not sure if I want to go mid-century modern in a stain or mid-century traditional in a white door.
Sooooo...whatcha think?
