Kitchen/Laundry Room Coordinate or Not?
We have a laundry room at the end of our kitchen. The rooms will be separated by a pocket door. The laundry room provides access to the back yard so it will be walked through alot. Should I match the cabinets or maybe just handles? I don't like the idea of our kitchen loosing its' uniqueness and flair because it has the same cabinets as a laundry room! Thoughts?

I don't see any reason why they should match if they are in separate areas. I would definitely just make sure I LIKE the cabinets I use in hte laundry area, if I have to walk past it all the time.

Re: Kitchen/Laundry Room Coordinate or Not?
If your kitchen is small, making the cabinets the same might make it feel like a larger space. You can do similar but not identical, for example Liljestad and Lidingo or Nexus Birch and Nexus Black-Brown for a coordinated but distinct look. You can also do the same cabinets but different countertops and handles, and maybe use glass fronts only in one space.

We are doing what Evaperconti suggested - same cabinets but different handles and countertops. We also have a pegboard backsplash in the mudroom, which gives it a more utilitarian feel.
Note: painting pegboard is MUCH better performed with a roller than with a brush!

Re: Kitchen/Laundry Room Coordinate or Not?
Thanks for the input. We are planning to use Tidaholm in the kichen and I feel it is too "nice" for the laundry room. I think I will decide on a door that will coordinate in tone so it is not too abrupt from one room to the next. Any thoughts on the Applad beige? I know it is being phased out but $5/door!

I love the applad beige and think that it would probably go nicely with the Tidaholm in the next room. That color is so versatile! Depending on what you do with the walls, it could either be an accent or completely disappear.

Re: Kitchen/Laundry Room Coordinate or Not?
I think Applad Beige might work, but will definitely be of a different quality-of-look level than Tidaholm.
I personally am a big fan of taking small utilitarian rooms and making them a fabulous gem...an unexpected and fun surprise that gives you an opportunity to really dress it out. Being of a small scale means you can use more expensive materials since you need such a small amount. Why not? My own laundry room/pantry is painted shrimp pink and has coordinating curtains and artwork. It makes me happy to do laundry! I'm even considering a small chandelier in there.
