The catalog says this bowl needs to be in minimum 35 7/8" cabinet. However, I am able to set the sink (still in its box) down into the top of the 30" cabinet (no counter tops in place yet) and it seems to fit fine, with even enough space to slide around some. Has anyone tried this combination and, if so, were any work arounds necessary to make it work? Or did it just not work at all?

The one and a half Emsen sink will fit a 30" base cabinet - the double requires the 36" cabinet.

I have a 30" wide sink cabinet as well. Is this the largest sink that will fit in the cabinet?

What would people recommend, this 1 1/2 bowl, or the standard single bowl (is the single bowl bigger than the larger bowl on the 1 1/2 bowl sink?).

We are looking for a 1 and 1/2 bowl undermount stainless sink to fit into the 30 inch sink cabinet. Is this emsen one an undermount? If so, could you point me in the right direction to get a look and/or order one?

Thank you!

The single bowl sink is larger than the 'larger' part of a 1 1/2 bowl sink.

The Emsen is not suitable for undermounting.

Re: Emsen 1 1/2 bowl sink to be used in a 30" sink cabinet

Does IKEA still sell the Emsen 1 1/2 bowl sink? I can't seem to find it online or in the catalog?

I'm specifically looking to get the biggest sink I can (preferably one that offers more than just a single bowl) into a 30-inch sink cabinet? I love IKEA, but I'd be willing to get the sink itself elsewhere, if anyone has good Home Depot, Lowe's, or other affordable suggestions.

Thanks!

Re: Emsen 1 1/2 bowl sink to be used in a 30" sink cabinet

The EMSEN line has been discontinued (except for one)...the new sinks are BOHOLMEN...a 1 1/2 bowl should fit the 30" base.

What do you guys do w/the 1/2 part of the sink? Is it actually useful, or am I just better off getting a single bowl sink since the single bowl is usually larger than the single side of a 1.5 sink? Decisions, decisions, lol.

Re: Emsen 1 1/2 bowl sink to be used in a 30" sink cabinet

I've had a decent size single sink and a standard double in the past. I'm pretty adaptable and given that both of these sinks were located in rentals, I didn't give much thought to it.

Now that we own a condo and are re-doing the kitchen and I actually have a choice, I did consider a host of options.

For me, the benefit to the half sink compartment is being able to separate things while I cook. So, for instance, it enables me to wash vegetables on the cleared out side of the sink and stack dirty dishes in the other side.

In the end, we did not get an IKEA sink. Instead, we got a 30" sink cabinet and I found the biggest sink that would fit in it at Home Depot. We're only half-way through the installation process, so I'm not 100% sure on how it will work out, but it seems to be okay based on my rough measuring the other night.

In case anyone wants to know, this is the sink we got:
American Standard Chandler Americast Single Bowl Kitchen Sink, Self-rimming/undercounter 3-Holes White Heat - 7162.803.208 at The Home Depot

It comes in a few different colors and is deep (maybe about 10"), which should hopefully offset what I miss about my previous double bowl. Also, it can be top-mounted or under-mounted.

As an aside, I'm quite sure that there are people on this forum who would disagree, but personally, I'm not convinced of the quality of IKEA sinks. I'm guessing they hold up just fine, but for the money, it seems easy enough to find similar sinks that are higher grades of chrome or made of other materials, like porcelain. I like to stick with IKEA for what IKEA does best (great furniture at a great price) and shop elsewhere for specialty items like sinks and beds.
