Discuss Slipcovers for Harry dinning chair on IKEAFANS.com. We're Personalizing the IKEA Experience. Slipcovers for Harry dinning chair - Need help with ideas and suggestions for your dining area, whatever it may be? Let's talk tables and chairs (and benches, and sideboards...)!.
Hi~! I just bought some Harry chairs secondhand....badly stained though! I see on IKEA on line you can order slipcovers for the slightly bigger chairs (Hendriks sp?) but nothing for Harry...anyone know if i can order these for the Harry chair too? thanks:-)
Oooh... I don't think you can order them...
Do you have any interest in re-upholstering these chairs yourself?
I'm wondering if perhaps the HENRIKSDAL covers might fit well enough that you could just snug them to fit with a couple of seams -- the design looks similar, but I don't know the particular dimensions. (boy... from the website photos, they sure look close... I'd be seriously tempted to try this...)
If the covers are badly stained, you could try dyeing them -- pick a color that's dark enough to cover the darkest stain - usually brown, or darker blue or darker red work.
The style of the chair is very simple, so you could try making your own slipcover pattern by un-picking one of the current ones and using it as a template.

Thanks so much for your suggestions! Yeah, I think the dimesions are pretty darn close
lol
. On the IKEA website it states the slipcovers are "interchangeable" so I'm thinking the Hendrisk covers might work. If they are only a few inches off I'll take 'em to a seamtstress & have them take in the zipper.
I also wondered about the dyeing....there is one slipcover that is so badly stained...not sure if it would work for that one! Thanks again, appreciate the help!
henriksdal and harry do not have zippers, they have velcro....but I do think you will be able to take your old harry cover to the seamstress with your new henriksdal covers to have them refitted, so to speak. Remember to purchase washable covers and use scotchguard fabric protectant between washings.
As far as dying the harry covers: since they are 100% cotton the dying process may yield varied results. you must first wash them, and I mean 'wash' them first. no guarantees...remember that dye sometimes rubs off, so make sure you set the dye
w
/ vinegar and wash them, i mean 'wash' them well prior to use....
good luck which ever option you choose.
W definition
W is a wall cabinet designation, as in W18, can be a stand-in for Wide, or when followed by a / stands for With.
Well, lucky me....turns out the chairs were the "Hendriskdal" ones! I picked up a pretty black & white floral slipcovers for $15 each...also, found a tan suede "as is" for $5.00 at my local Ikea store.
I LOVE these chairs. I feel like getting the (4) chairs for 50.00 was a bargain. They are very comfy too.
Thanks everyone for the suggestions!
Henriksdals were on sale for $15 at IKEA
Pittsburgh
today and there were two styles on clearance for less than $7. One was the black & white stripe and the other was the off white background with floral.
The website shows a black & white floral print, but I think they are sold out and not coming back.
