Greeting Ikeans,

I purchased kitchen cabinets with Solar Beech doors a while back and have some ideas on tweaking the install that would require some additional doors. No problem (I thought) until I found out the doors were discontinued.

The good news is that the IKEA Shop online person I talked to said the doors I need are available in the Seattle store and that I can call and have them delivered. Well it turns out he was half right, they do have the doors buts the sales rep I talked to says they won't ship outside of the state which doesn't help me since I'm on the east coast. Does anyone know any way I can get IKEA to ship the doors from the Seattle store to my local store?

Thanks in advance for any help,

Hi,
I'm installing the Domsjo double sink with the ATLANT
Strainer/ water-trap kit. I bought 40mm waste pipe and elbows to connect to the kit to get the waste to the drain outside but Britain's idea of 40mm is different to IKEA's idea of 40mm. There is approx 0.5mm difference. Has anyone else experienced this? Do IKEA sell the waste pipe and elbows of their own quirky size to get to the drain?

Description: The countertops were tiled using large, high quality porcelaine tile. The metal edging is Schluter. I chose this look because it's reminiscent of the mid-century modern style of the house. The handles and bin pulls were chosen for that same reason; they also match the curved handles of most of the appliances.

The backsplash is subway slate tile and onyx. I like to use natural materials whenever I can because they are timeless.

Hello All,

Ok, I hope I'm just having a bad day, and I'm not completely losing my mind. I just can't seem to figure out the prices on the attached list.

I want to know the price of each separate drawer front for the 24" 3 drawer base cabinet - Tidaholm

This is what I'm seeing:
1) a picture of a single drawer with 24" option;
2) a picture of 2 drawer fronts for the 24" cabinet (2 drawer cabinet does this even exist!?); and finally
3) a picture of the 3 drawers, but only for the 15" and the 18" cabinet.

This is what I'm guessing:
top small drawer $28
middle drawer $43.50 (half of $87 from the 2 drawer pic)
bottom drawer $43.50
total cost of $115.

Am I missing something something obvious?

1st draft of kitchen plan. Small L shaped kitchen, with a few questions

Not sure if I'm doing this right....

Not sure if I'm doing this right. I emailed myself a link to my kitchen plan, and pasted it below.

http://kitchenplanner.ikea.com/US/UI...SharedDesign=1

My kitchen is really L shaped, with entrances next to the dishwasher, and next to the fridge, but I left it rectangle shaped becuase it's easier to view. it's a small townhouse and my goal is to redo the kitchen and sell. I'm going to use premium laminate for the counters and peel and stick tile for the floor, probably in a neutral grey color. most appliances are staying in their same location, other than the dishwasher, which is now next to the stove leaving my only storage below the sink. this plan incorporates an 18" dishwasher where now I have a 24".

about my plan:

minor details -
on the blind corner cabinet, it has a birch cover panel but I cant see how to change it to white. item# 20136074. glitch?

I cant seem to rotate the fridge, so it appears sideways.

I cant get the lagan range to show up (but I've seen this issue elsewhere)

a few of the cabinets I cant get to seem to snap up to the ceiling.

Questions -

I'm not sure about cover panels and fillers. Are they only necessary when using doors other than white or birch? or even on a white cabinet, would you see screws, therefore needing cover panels too? If this is the case, then I need one on the left side of the upper corner cabinet.

I'm not sure what to do above the fridge area. -
I have filler between the fridge top cabinet and the wall cabinet. it shows up as resizeable. how does that work? I think I can use a 1" filler, and a 36" cabinet, but the planner wont let me do it. or should I go with no filler, the 36" cabinet and leave room to scribe a piece against the wall? does Ikea really sell various filler pieces that are 88" tall?

or I can use a wider filler and a 30" cabinet. but then I have like 6" to play with. what do I do with this space?

I dont have room for any fillers on the side with the sink base. is this a problem? my friend said I need at least 3/4" beside the dishwasher and on the other side of the sink base to scribe. makes sense, but I dont have room. what to do? it sorts of looks like there is a gap when I zoom in on the planner, does it plan for that?

I know that's a lot of questions, so thank you in advance for your expertise!

Robin

Hi

I'm pretty experienced at putting together Ikea stuff but this one has me stumped - I would appreciate any input. I have a 24" Akurum base cabinet and a Domsjo sink. Per the instructions I have used the two steel struts that came with the sink to build the cabinet instead of the usual wooden slats that go across the top. The problem is that the struts are about 1/2" shorter than the wooden struts which results in the cabinet being 24" wide at the base but then narrowing to 23 1/2" at the top. This can't be right, surely? Not only does the back panel now not fit (because of the slight 'V' shape) but it's going to be out of whack when I install the cabinet in situ.

Anyone else have this problem or have I somehow messed up? Many thanks.

Hello Ikea fans. I have attached...

Hello Ikea fans. I have attached several sketches for review. Any suggestions, corrections, and or advice would be greatly appreciated. We started this project by enclosing our back porch so that we could have an eat-in kitchen. Our hope is to have a table in this area, We are also removing the wall between our kitchen and family room. We do have a air duct that goes through our existing cabinet which is adjacent to the door to the basement. Our house is a 1920’s bungalow. The first attachment shows my current configuration.

We are not plumbers and wish to keep the sink and the dishwasher so that the drain and water do not have to be moved. We are not fans of the batwing sink or 37”corner cabinet. We might try a corner modification described in the Ikea fan forum. I have lived with a corner sink. My problem with it is the wasted space in front of the sink and the large distance to the window and wall. I plan to put shelves on the wall and it would be great to be able to reach them.

Sketch 2 (kitchen without corner sink) is using an 18” lower cabinet and a 24”sink cabinet at right angles to each other. I will have unused space in the corner for plumbing(?) I am not sure about the dishwasher draining through the 18-inch cabinet. Does this plan make sense ergonomically or should I go back to the diagonal corner (modifying a cabinet)?

Another issue is the fact that I prefer a large space between the sink and the stove. I also need space between the stove and the refrigerator. What do you recommend? The sketch shows a 21” between the sink and stove and 15” between stove and refrigerator. I could also do another 24" and a 12". Balance would be 18 and 18. I think I would like to do 30” between the sink and stove. However that would only leave me 6" between stove (Electric smooth top) and the refrigerator. Currently I have 48” between sink and stove and it works well for me. The third attachment is the aerial view of the proposed new kitchen.

We are planning a peninsula between the family room and kitchen with bar height on the family room side. A structurally needed column will be at the end of the peninsula next to the new addition (enclosed porch). We would like stools to fit beneath the peninsula on the kitchen side, too. I want storage under the peninsula. Other information that might be helpful: we are a family of 6 (including 2 dogs). Everyone is always in the kitchen at the same time and we are always tripping over each other.

Thanks for your time and input!

We will be getting the keys to our new house this week and would like to redo the kitchen in about 2-3 weeks. While I was at the Vaughn location on the weekend I asked one of the kitchen people if there is a sale coming up soon and he said in Sept or Oct.

I also asked him if I get the kitchens in about two weeks and if the sale hadn't started could I get the sale price later? He said it would have to be within 45 days but I would have to return everything and repurchase again. I then asked him if I can just return the packaging along with the receipt but he said no that I have to return the entire kitchen back!!:o

This is not doable of course so I wondering if other people have had any luck with getting the price match of a sale after they've purchased the kitchen.

Hi!

I am just about done with my kitchen design on the new planner, and I have the 15"w 24"d 80"h cabinet with drawers (yay for this new cabinet!), and I need a cover panel for one full side, and a partial one for the other side. When I add the cover panels, and them go to my cost list, it says I need 5 cover panels! At $90 each, this brings the cost for the entire pantry at almost $900! So then I removed them both, and added them one at a time, checking to see what it added quantity wise after adding a panel one at a time. After adding one side, quantity was at 3. After adding the other side, quantity was at 5 again! This can't be right?! Please tell me I just need 2 cover panels, not 5...and that this is just a glitch. I'm placing my order long-distance (wish me luck! So nervous something will be left out...but I'm ordering from Alaska, no Ikea up here!) so I can't go to a store to talk to someone. Thank you!

We are trying to redo our kitchen....

We are trying to redo our kitchen. It will be a total tear out. We will be moving the plumbing and gas lines.

We are thinking of a single bowl sink in the corner. Our friend is helping he thinks he can modify a cabinet. I don't know how much room this cabinet will take up. I can't find the post about upper cabinet used as lower corner sink.

On the wall where I have the stove We would like to use 108" or less for cabinets to keep the door way open. This door is just an opening. The other door leads to our backyard; we are thinking of putting in a 6' sliding glass door.

This is an eat-in kitchen, we can change the table but not remove it. The window can be moved on it's wall or removed.

Position refrigerator beside doorway? Advice needed..

Hi everyone.

we're considering a kitchen layout wherein the fridge is beside the entrance to the kitchen. I was wandering if anyone else has a fridge in such a position and if so does it feel restrictive when entering? The entrance is a doorway and we would hang the door so that the fridge is behind it when it's open.

Also, the fridge would be next to an l-shaped corner base cabinet (90cm - ~36") - would this cause interferance with the lazy susan at all?

I've attached a pic showing the proposed fridge location.

Any advice is highly appreciated, thanks.

Do AKURUM wall cabinets sit flush?

I purchased a small AKURUM kitchen...

I purchased a small AKURUM kitchen and before begin I putting it together, I was watching the IKEA kitchen installation video on YouTube. It looks like the wall cabinets have a gap behind them because they hang from the suspension rail mounted to the wall. Is the rear portion that connects to the suspension rail recessed so that the back of the cabinet sits flush against the wall?

I'm putting these cabinets in a small kitchen on one wall that is not enclosed by walls on either side, so I don't want a gap to be seen when looking at the cabinets from the side, or from underneath if these are sitting off of the wall. I've attached a picture of the kitchen from the IKEA kitchen planner. Thanks in advance.
