I am wondering if I could not have a toe kick/legs but instead suspend the cabinets using rails just like wall cabs are hung? Would that still be able to support a 3 cm stone slab?

Only just begun our kitchen install. Have put together a 90cm Faktum base and I'm not sure how many legs to put on it and where they go. I know I probably sound a bit thick but desperately trying to be sure of everything before we attempt to move the unit (as it's quite heavy).
Any help appreciated

Cable management for wall mounted TV unit

I'm assembling a Besta TV wall...

I'm assembling a Besta TV wall unit like IKEA | Bookcases | BESTÅ/FRAMSTÅ/INREDA storage system | BESTÅ/ FRAMSTÅ | TV/ storage combination except I will also have storage shelves going across the top. Since the top shelves need to mounted to the wall, the entire unit will be against the wall with only like a quarter inch gap to the wall. just enough room for a power cord but not even enough to pass the plug.

How do people deal with cable management for wall mounted units. I can run the cords then attach it to the wall, which is not ideal. but if I ever replace a component running the cables would be a hassle, probably have to take it off the wall.

Any tips?

Oven and Microwave installation question

Hello Hello!
My first post here!...

Hello Hello!
My first post here! :D

I have a kitchen cabinet from IKEA, and I have a whirpool electric oven and microwave to install.
It fits in, microwave no problem.
Oven also slides in fine, just have to connect te wires into the wall, but before, there comes a question:
Do I need anything for isolation between the Ikea white cabinet and the oven itself? Or just slide in, and let it run?
I was thinking the oven will get Hot. Really HOT. Will it damage the furniture? Will it catch on fire and burn down? Or is the oven and the Ikea furnitures are prepared for such high heat?

Anyone seen an installation before?
Did anyon used something for isolation between the oven and the cabinet itself?

Thanks,
Tibby

I am new to this site and have found it very useful in answering many questions as I am installing my Ikea kitchen. I finally have a question that I haven't been able to find an answer to. We are installing a double Domsjo sink in the Akrum cabinet at the end of a run of base cabinets. Since it is the last cabinet in the run the countertop will only come to 1 side of the cabinet so I will have to build up the other side of the cabinet by 1 1/2" to level the sink. I've had some ideas but I would like to know if anyone else has had this problem.

Leveling Cabinets for Granite Countertop

I am mid kitchen install and I was...

I am mid kitchen install and I was curious about the leveling pre granite installation. I have cabinets backing up on a pass-through a wall. the granite will sit on top of the cabinets (which are level) and then proceed through the pass-through at the same height as the counter (i.e. one big piece of stone). Unfortunately, the pass-through and the cabinets do not line up perfectly (1/8"-1/4" off) and the bottom of the passthrough is not perfectly level. Should I try and plane a board to level it out? will the granite guys just shim it and move on?

Additionally I went the 4 feet path instead of using a base plate on the base cabinets, but when they stand, because the wall is not even, they are not flush with the wall. I don't want to mount drywall anchors though the holes and have them unlevel my cabinets, should I just tighten them enough to be snug but not secure? or put reinforcements behind the holes? or not mount them?

I am a little lost. Help!

Akurum - which hole for the runner for the top, shallow drawers?

I'm assembling my first cabinet...

I'm assembling my first cabinet slowly and deliberately. It's a 30" base. If I were to continue at this speed, I would have the kitchen finished some time in 2012. But I want to make sure everything is e.x.a.c.t.l.y. right on the first one so I have a guide to go by.

1) Am I clever to install the runners before assembling the cabinet, or is this going to cause a problem somewhere down the road?

2) The instructions show the runners for the deep drawers going in the 12th and 22nd holes down. Hunky dory. But which hole gets the runner for the top shallow drawer?

3) If a cabinet will be between an appliance and a wall, is screwing it to the rear wall sufficient, or is there any need to adhere it horizontally to something?

Thanks!

Countertops are in, I'm all ready...

Countertops are in, I'm all ready to start installing some drawers. BIG problem: I just discovered the drawer partition for my 4-drawer cabinet.

Looks like it should be screwed down from the top and also from the back. I figure the nails in the back weren't doing much, but can I modify this to work without removing the counters?

I'm thinking of using some light gauge metal angles to attach it up into the numerar oak and/or the cabinet frame. Anyone ever tried this?

Cheers & TIA
