Hi everyone,

I'm new here and have a question regarding MÅNSTAD corner sofa-bed.

I took a look on the IKEA website and it seems that this unit will be in 4 packages?

Can anyone please confirm how many packages this sofa-bed comes in and how big each is? I'm just concerned whether it is easy to take this home ourselves, or whether we need to order delivery. Also and how easy it is to fit through our front door...

Thanks!

IKEA Living Room Photo: Entertainment Center

*Image Title:* Entertainment...

Image Title: Entertainment Center
Description: When I wanted to design an entertainment center using the Akurum cabinets and these beautiful Solar beech wood doors, I had a hard time finding info to help--here or anywhere. So I fumbled along myself (finding lots of help here in the kitchen design sections!) and wanted to share the finished product. I would do some things differently and thought I'd share some things I learned along the way.

First, I planned on our DVR and DVD players fitting inside the glass-door cabinets. They don't--the cabinets are too shallow. (Never even thought of measuring that dimension!) We thought of several options, including cutting the drywall out behind the cabinet, but ultimately decided they would sit just fine on the cabinet under the TV.

Second....were I doing it again, I would make the center (lowest) cabinets stick out from the wall several inches further by making a false back on them. It would require 3 additional cover panels, but would negate the need for the spacer between those two cabinets, so construction would be simplified a bit. I just think it would look nicer. I would then add another 2 legs on them to make it look like a separate piece of furniture (which I wanted to do anyway, but my husband and daughter overruled me).

We designed a shallow box that is mounted on the wall behind the TV and all of our cables are hidden behind that and plug in various outlets either behind that box or inside the cabinet on the upper left.. It works fine, but was kind of complicated....there must be a better way, but I'm not sure what it is. We ended up moving several outlets to more convenient places and 3 of them ended up inside cabinets in surface-mount boxes so that they're still accessible.

Even though this style cabinet has integral handles, we added handles anyway. The integral handle seems to me to be the weakest part of the cabinet (by far) and store models showed some damage. One door arrived to us with some damage to the handle (very minor), but it confirmed my suspicions that it was a design flaw. I predict a design change it its future.

This project wasn't cheap, but it fills the wall nicely and we really like how it turned out!

Here's one of those questions that I can probably answer on my own, but I'm going to ask for some feedback on.

As you know, we purchased a MANSTAD a few weeks ago, and we've been lovin' it!!! Sadly, on our visit to Stoughton today, we discovered it had dropped $200 in price.

I know it's been over 14 days, but does anyone here think I have any shot at getting a price adjustment? It's really been less than 60 days, I think, since we bought it.

Ideas? Suggestions?

However just checked the catalog and it seems to indicate just 66 Lbs Max Load! We put this together as 2 Besta units as shown and screwed them together. We also added some L Brackets for reinforcement on the end verticals.

Could it really be just 66 Lbs or could the specs have been for one unit? How does the physics work? For a 60 inch TV, would the load spread evenly when there are more legs/wider berth with the two units or is the Max Load spec going to remain the same?

I need help with a new tv solution

Hi. Take a look at the pictures...

Hi. Take a look at the pictures below. I hate the tv stand I currently have. Not only do the shelves lean, but you can very easily see the mess of wires which annoys me.

I took the picture from the couch, which has a great view out the front window so I'd like to keep the tv in the corner. I can't really put it on the one wall because of the window and I can't really put it on the back wall where the couch currently is because I like to have my surround sound speakers behind the couch and I don't want those out in the middle of the living room.

The problem with finding something to put the tv on is obviously the corner (short wall is 34", window to the corner is 61.5"), but also all the equipment. The big things are the receiver which is 6" tall x 17" wide and the speakers; center is 5" tall, fronts are 9" tall. Then there's the dish network box, the blu-ray player and the wii. I'm not worried about the subwoofer, that will be easy to figure out. Oh, my tv is 40" wide, and I can put it back on the stand, I don't really want to mount it.

Any ideas??? I'm really at a loss, I can't figure anything out. I saw the karaby unit at my local ikea store which I really liked, but apparently they don't actually sell it here in the states. Oh, and I would like to keep with the black/brown motif I've got going on...

BERTBY owners: door overlap dimensions please?

Hello, I am thinking of turning...

Hello, I am thinking of turning some BERTBYs into display cases, and I'm hoping to add some low profile lighting as the glass door may not let in sufficient light. Ideally, I could place low profile lighting strips behind the door, where it overlaps the display area.

Specifically, the door has a wooden frame and a glass centerpiece. The glass appears to be smaller than the internal dimensions of the main case, which means that some wood "intrudes" into the open area of the case, narrowing the view into the case. It is on the back side of this overlap that I would like to place lighting. How wide is this overlap? Alternately, how wide is the visible glass area of the front door, and what is the internal width (usable width) of the case itself?

Thanks!
