I absolutely LOVE your kitchen! It's stunning!! I'm not sure you need a backsplash, though I bet the stainless steel would look fantastic.

I took a small Tidaholm door over to a local tile shop that specializes in kitchen-bath applications, including subway tiles, beveled stone subway tiles, and many kinds of glass.

One major recommendation was that grout is available that seals effectively and doesn't mildew. My response is that the shower stall will have to be redone.

Dave, if you haven't been there yet, check out Ceramic Matrix.

I think the OP's kitchen is great with no splash, or maybe just tempered glass panels where protection is needed.
