there seems to be something weird with the order of the thread display in this forum... the new threads are not showing on the first page ... this forum appears to have no order ... can you take a look at it ?

do you think this might be the "smarts" in the new forums, listing items based on what's been updated since you last visited? Its a significant difference from the old style, where it was simply newest comments to the top...

Thanks Doreen -- it wasn't a case of the smarts, it was sorting alphabetically! ??? Who set that up? Anyway...Tigger fixed.

Nope, this was not a case of "clippyitis" (sorry, couldn't resist the chance to get a dig in on M$ Office's uber-annoying animated assistant, may he be melted in the plasma of the nearest star ((not the sun, that's too close for my taste, Alpha C at the LEAST)) ), it was a boo boo in the sort settings as Susan has no doubt already told you. But did she mention *who* setup the forum? ::rubbing finger on side of nose::

Anyway, 'tis fixed now. Thanks for the tip Doreen!

Nice catch, Doreen! I just assume anything that I don't understand is user error, which typically is the case for me!

Hint: The cure for "clippyitis" consists of doing a CUSTOM install of MS Office and making sure to leave the "Office Assistant" OUT.

And you can also use "Add/Remove" to get rid of that pest after the fact, in case it has been installed "by mistake".

Um, yeah. What he fails to mention is that whilst we were scrambling to get everything back up and functional Monday night, he took care of forum setup while I copied and pasted umpteen FAQ's and reworked all the user groups. As a matter of fact, I just ran through all the forums, and found that about 80% of them were sorting that way - now fixed. Whose nose is being rubbed now?

Gosh.... gotta wonder why I only noticed in the mods forum... esp since I'm not doing any mods.... I just kept having trouble finding the new entries from the main forum list

I just thought the odd order was some kind of odd setting and found that I could click on the date column heading and get it in either newest first or oldest first. That is a cool capability!

The new forum looks and works great! Only one quibble - the bright almost completely white background is a little hard on the eyes. I liked that nice blue on the other forum software. Maybe something a little softer for the background here? I'm talking about the very back-background, not where the text is.

Actually, we did add the same background as the old forums! In our pre-launch beta, there were several other folks who mentioned the glaring white background, so we put up the same one we used to have. The funny thing is, I never ever saw it due to the nature of my monitor (or maybe my eyes?). I can only see it now if I tip my head to the side and look askance at the screen. Does it really look that different to you from before?
