Just checked the prices of the products in Greece compaired to Germany: 30 to 40 % higher in Greece!!!!!

The Greek stores are operates by a franchise partner. That's probably the reason for the high prices.
I have three Ikea stores within a distance of 20 km from home. Some prices vary from store to store (regularly, not in sale). Once I bought an Ikea shoe rack. which cost at store one 20 €, store two 25 € and store three 30 € ...

Prices in Greece are comparable to prices in Cyprus , which is also a franchise and are higher than those in other countries that use the Euro.

The excuse here, for most things, is that Cyprus is an island and we have to cover the additional cost of everything coming here by sea.

It almost sounds reasonable until you think that most IKEA stuff is made in Eastern Europe which isn't exactly a long way from us and anything that is made in China is quite likely to come up the Suez canal and sail straight past us!

Pricing all started to go wrong when we switched to the Euro and the profiteering started, but that is a discussion for another forum!
