I expect them to be down about 1/2 hour or so, and don't anticipate any disruption of the rest of the site. This is to roll-out a wave of changes to the gallery and thumbnail system, so please bear with us, it'll be worth it. There will be more tweaks to the gallery system coming, but they shouldn't require that the galleries be taken offline.

Sorry it ran a bit long, network traffic made the backups prior to making the change take a *lot* longer than expected and there was a nasty glitch in the Forums Search results integration that didn't show up on the testbed. Well, all's well that ends well?

Please let me know if anyone experiences any major glitches... And I hope you enjoy the changes! I'll write up some details later (and there will be more tweaks coming now that the upgrades to support them are in place)
, but for the moment I think I'll go quiver in a quiet corner for a bit.

It also "broke" the "New Posts" feature for a bit, but it looks GREAT! You do good work.

One tiny glitch - when you click on the thumbnails all the pictures are being labeled "Uba Tuba Granite" or something similar. I think only the picture name field from the first photo is being picked up and not replaced for the other pictures.

This means I will no longer miss seeing new pictures!

Oh yes... I know all about the broken recent posts serach That's mainly why I needed to go do some quiet quivering after I got it all working again.

Thanks for the kind words! And you're 100% right about the broken caption text on the pop-up thumbnails. I know *where* it's happening, but my brain's too shaky after the last couple days to nail down a solution for it. At least it's a benign bug, nothing is screwed up by it and it shouldn't cause people any real problems until I can get the pesky little sucker squashed.

Interesting little fillip, did you notice the image actually gets removed from the page when it pops up? And if you're dealing with small images you can have several open and move them around like postits.

The *really* cool thing about the pop-ups is that it works on thumbnails dropped into posts from "My Gallery". Unfortunately, it won't work on thumbs dropped in PRIOR to the new setup, the syntax of the link dropped in actually changed, and isn't easily inferred from the prior link so it's not something I can retrofit to existing posts readily. Well, at least it gives an advantage to having images hosted on site!

And speaking of having images hosted on site, you can now upload (or transfer if they are already on the web) up to 10 images at a time. There's also a way to group multiple images uploaded at the same time into a "Set" that are grouped together, they're actually pretty cool. The only problem is that atm you can't add or remove images *to/from* a set, they are a one time thing. Down the road I think albums and sets may merge into a more useful system, but it for now it's just another step closer.

Newest image uploaded will also show up in the memberlist and a few other improvements:

The categories now show a LOT more images at a time. Clicking on the image itself will bring up the full size file in a "Lightbox" viewer, clicking on the title will go to the filmstrip view which displays the details etc.

Albums can now be made public or private, public ones will show up in the member's profile.

There's a few other minor tweaks, and we're looking at some category tweaking, but that's the main stuff.

Not that I will have time to play much with anything. We're getting too close to finishing the house for anything else to get attention.
