Re: Cabinets for the Garage

I would love to see pics of what anyone has done with garage/utility spaces and anything IKEA. Some kind of storage system for our bike room has been on the agenda for a loooong time but I just can't make a decision about what would work best and give the most flexibility for the $$. Plus is has to look cool since the room in question is visible from our main living area.

Sorbo gray was on my short list of potential doorstyles if we went with Akurum, but I'm worried about the whole thing looking too kitcheny when the look I would prefer is industrial/utilitarian/sleek.

Re: Cabinets for the Garage

Splatgirl--

Think I am going with Ankuram with Applad doors. Arlig seems too susceptible to dirt and may be difficult to clean. Applad is next price point up, not too much more, appears a little more resistent to finger prints and easier to clean. Also, not too "kitcheny".

We would like to have something low key that does not look over the top--we would like something subtle. I have had 7 estimates on garage cabinets 3500 to 10K. I can do the the Ikea for substantially less, good size, not sit directly on floor, cabs are easy to hang. Love concept of Pax, but worry about weight bearing capacity. Used Pax for toys in garage. Working great but holding lighter weight. Did not use doors. Will upload photo. Anyone with any other experience with Ankuram in garage? Know someone has pics in gallery with applad in garage--Lucylu?

Re: Cabinets for the Garage

Broder has bike hooks & other clever tool/stuff storage: IKEA | Heavy duty storage systems | BRODER system but if you want door fronts they don't seem to have those...

Re: Cabinets for the Garage

Ya, we've got a bunch of the wall mounted BRODER stuff, or maybe it was the former incarnation that was called something else, on two separate walls, and really like it for bigger stuff. It would be awesome of that line had some kind of cabinetry like UDDEN , except with galvanized metal doors. That would be EXACTLY what I want. Shallow wall cabinets and deeper lowers that work with the uprights.
What we're lacking in there is a way to contain and conceal the smaller and less cute things, plus easy access tool storage and a good stretch of heavy duty workbench.
I think what I'm looking for is industrial glamour.
