My husband and I are in the process of building a home. We have a small pantry that we need to outfit with shelving, cabinets, etc. Due to the new kitchen promotion, I was thinking of using
Akurum
frames without doors for the pantry shelving, but I'm having trouble arranging the space. My goals are to maximize storage possibilities and keep the cost as low as possible. I guess ultimately I need to know if Akurum frames are a better choice than wire shelving, which I think may be our only other option.
My husband is really interested in the GORM shelving, but I'm not sure it would be that functional for a pantry? At this point I welcome any suggestions! The pantry will mainly store food, and some bulk items like paper towels, etc., cookbooks, and lesser used appliances and serving pieces.
A word about the planner file-- I didn't get the door entered properly, but the door is on the long wall that doesn't have cabinets on it. Door swing is not an issue.
Akurum is the North American equivalent of FAKTUM; that is the fitted, frameless, component kitchen cabinet line, which when paired with door and drawer fronts as well as interior accessories makes up the full kitchen cabinet system.
I just looked at your kitchen plan and had to see this too- what an awesome space!
I like the idea of using the
Akurum
system for your pantry- it's super sturdy and has a lot of options.
have you thought about using some corner cabinets with shelves in the corners, and then 12" cabinets on the sides?
I've seen "california closets" pantries outfitted very much like it.
Also, you would retain the option to add doors later if you like- I think it would be tricky on some of the cabinets in your original plan.
These are stacked but you could leave a space for a narrow countertop as well, and have a little bit of deeper counter in the corner.
Good luck with your new home!

Thanks so much for your comments and new design. I do like that very much. The quality of the cabinets is one of the reasons I'm compelled to use them in the pantry, especially since I can take advantage of the great sale going on now. I really like them stacked. I hadn't tried that option yet.
I also played a bit with the Antonius system. Do you happen to know how well it holds up over time? I need to do a search on that but I have been playing with the kitchen plan, laundry room plan, master bath plan, etc. If you're interested, watch for posts in the laundry forum and bath forum once I get my layouts tweaked to my satisfaction.
