ohhhkay! My dog would be off his rocker to have a kid around. He thinks they're the coolest thing ever. The first thing we'll do is get to work designing her her own set of motorcycle leathers so she can ride with me...until she learns how to ride our pocketbike, that is.
Pink, of course. Then I'll teach her to bake my famous almond croissants, so when I send her home you'll always have fresh French pastry. Because fresh croissants make life worth living.

Susan - sigh. We knew there had been some water damage in that room it just feels like every time we figure out one way that water's getting in - it comes in someplace else. This time, it was gutters (we have cool old wooden ones - I don't find them cool right now) gunked up with frozen leaves - no place for water to go - it made it, somehow, up through the floor in the family room. There's no basement there - it's just solid cement slab.
Obviously we have to keep the gutters cleaned out but it doesn't usually rise to the top 10 things we want to do ...you know...ever
Hi everyone, sorry to ressurect such an old topic, but I have a similar issue.
I bought an expedit bookcase, and I plan to use it to put my tv on it.
I was told by the sales girl that the capita feet would be enought, and I, of course, followed her advice and bought it.
Turns out theres only 4 feet in the box and I'm wondering if I should put them kinda in the middle of the expedit or on its sides, what would you guys recomend ?
I would say you need at least 6 of the legs, perhaps 8, depending on the size and weight of your TV. If you look at Splatgirl's pictures, they used 6 legs on both the 4 and 5 wide units, but they have very little weight on either unit. With the TV, I'd tend towards using all 8 legs.
When you install these legs, you need to be VERY careful not to wander too far from the edge of the unit, or you will be away from the solid build up along the edge which gives the Expidit its strength, and into the very thin and fragile outer skin of the unit, which won't hold much weight at all.
I'm assuming from your post that you'll be laying the unit down, so it is only 18" or so high?

Ya, thats it. will be laying it down, I saw it just like that on the store, but I didnt remember how many legs they used, and since the sales girl gave me the box with the 4 legs i was wondering if that was enough, guess it isnt
Itll have to hold a 39ish inch tv and a ps3
Guess when I drop by the store to buy some other stuff I missed Ill get another box of legs, meanwhile ill just use the little pads that came with it.
Hi Bernie, and welcome.
The Capita legs come with screws to attach them, so all you'd need is a #2 (I think) Phillips screwdriver and maybe a pencil. It helps to have an awl to get the holes started, too, but it's not absolutely necessary.
Just be sure and pay attention to placement as has been discussed previously, be careful about the tip-over risk, and about how much weight the thing will have to support.
I will add that the rail-mounted casters that IKEA sells with EXPEDIT now are a slick option.

Do we have to make sure they're tight to the edges, from what I've read it sounds like the Expedit generally isn't made from solid stuff?
Recently had a big Odda children's wardrobe fall apart on us during construction so am a bit paranoid about where and how to screw the feet on securely!
Yep, the outer corners and edges where the frame sections intersect, so that they're into/under something more solid than the glorified cardboard that is the skin of the thing.
