The contractor wants me to come up with the electrical plan so I've been writing it up. On the one hand I get frustrated with not having an outlet right next to wherever I happen to need one and so have always assumed that plugmold was in my future (installed on an angle naturally). But for the couple of appliances that are always out and always plugged in like the coffee grinder, coffee maker and toaster, it seems less neat to have three cords running directly up the wall in three different places. I am thinking it would be neater to have standard wall outlets dedicated for those appliaces, then use the plugmold for items that are used periodically. But is having both plugmold and a couple of wall outlets ridiculous?Â*

Not ridiculous at all! If you have these appliances out all the time and not in a garage, then I agree you don't want those cords dangling from the plugmold. I'm having plugmold and at least one outlet (all others are in garages).

We turned our outlets horizontally and lowered them so that they are only 4 inches from the countertop (so if you had a 4" backsplash, they'd sit right on top of that). This way, the small appliance that is always plugged in will hide the outlet itself.
