Hello IKEAFANS!

Can anyone suggest a good general contractor/ IKEA kitchen installer in the Bay Area? Need somebody to instal cabinets, do re-plumbing, electrical work and painting!

Hi Maria - If you don't get any suggestions from the community here - you might want to check out Angie's List. Members in other areas of the country have found great contractors/handymen on Angie's List.

Naturally, my opinion may be extremely biased for obvious reasons, but many will agree that "general contractor" and "Ikea installer" seem to be mutually exclusive skills when used in the same sentence (as if it wasn't already hard enough to find just a "good general contractor" these days).

thank you for the comment! I was just actually thinking about whether I had made myself clear enough...

I'm very close to finishing the detailed plan of our kitchen and we are looking for people that would assemble and install the IKEA cabinets. We are also looking for people to do re-plumbing, electrical and painting work. If we find somebody to do everything that's great, otherwise we will have to coordinate other contractor(s) with the IKEA installer.

I understand you are an IKEA installer, do you do general contract work as well? Or do you have other general contractor recommendations?

From your original post it seemed like you were looking for a "do it all" contractor that would also install your Ikea cabinets.

We only do Ikea installations as you already guessed (and would be glad to help you if you need), but unfortunately I'm yet to find a good contractor that I would feel confident recommending to our potential clients.
