Thank you for looking.

We are in the process of designing our kitchen and our budget.

I am not able to get thru to IKEA direct-perpetually busy.

I have NO idea what to expect as far as shipping to Florida.

Would those of you who actually used IKEA direct (not a local store) for shipping please post those costs?

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did not end up using Ikea direct but I priced out shipping. For my order it was a total of $900 (-500) for the recent promo. However when I went to my local Ikea to price out delivery, the same order came to $225. Needless to say we went for local delivery.

Thanks for the reply Wendy. Do you recall how much your order weighed or how much it totalled? (So I can guage whether we will be over or under that figure).

We have expected to pay $1K to get it to Florida, but now I am not so sure.:?

My order weighed 2100 pounds and was on 4 pallets - two regular sized and two oversized. Don't be afraid to ask your sales person for a discount, it is my understanding that they can make some adjustments.

I am ordering a kitchen from IKEA direct in the next few days. I talked to them last week to get a rough estimate on shipping to MIAMI, FL.

To ship the kitchen below... was $286.

I have made some changes to the design (added base cabinets) so I'm sure the cost will be more now; however, I'm not getting the countertops from IKEA, but I am getting a number of large cover panels and JARPEN shelves and brackets, so I suspect the shipping will exceed $300.

BUT, because there is no IKEA in FL, I save at least 6% on sales tax (in Broward where the new IKEA will be built - 7% in Dade county- and 7.5% on Miami Beach, where I live).

If you need anyone to help you transfer the shipment from US to Caribbean cargo please let me know. I'd be happy to go down to the port for you; although I've never done it before and I would need some coaching. However, I have gone to MIA air cargo several times to transfer a dog that wastraveling from Granada to Ohio.

When I get my final shipping price from IKEA Direct I'll post it along with the design, which might help you and others estimate your own shipping costs.

Hi The Red One!

Your kitchen plan was not viewable, but I poked around your posts and saw your BEAUTIFUL Home and kitchen! Wow, and what an improvement from the previous one! If you can I would love to see photos of the new plan you are ordering.

I really really appreciate your offer of assistance.

I think I can have IKEA direct ship it directly to the freighter company.

You are correct on the taxes! Another reason to get this done before next summer (the new FL IKEA opens then)!

Petonza...I've found that I often have to hover over the red x and then right-click. Select Properties. Under the section called URL you'll find the picture's URL. Copy and paste it into your browser. View the picture and then come back to the post and voila! You can now see thepicture in the post.

For example, the URL for one of Red's pictures is

http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7...ption%201a.jpg

By putting that URL into my address line in my browser I can see the picture in a new window and then clicking the back arrow I can see it in the post here on the boards.

Hope that helps.

Our 13x13 foot kitchen with a u-shaped pattern and 39" wall cabinets came in at about $3,400. Shipping wis $1,200. Total: $4,600.
We live in Boise ID. I have no idea where the goodies will originate.
